Most interesting hotel/hospital lineups

Last Thursday I visited a friend staying at the Sheraton in Buenos Aires. His room had a 50 inches LG-branded LED... but connected to analogue TV. All the channels were sourced from DirecTV boxes, and most of them had the card number in the bottom. Also most of the channel were center-cut to 4:3 (when Argentine TV no longer respects the 4:3 safe zone, thus making some text and graphics missing). The only channels in 16:9 were TyC Sports, TV5 Monde (which had so much snow it was impossible to watch) and NHK World Premium. Also one of the channels available (CCTV-4) was taken from an Internet stream complete with a watermark.

This is probably the wrong thread for this post and I apologize but this is not a hotel lineup, but rather a hospital lineup. I was in a hospital here in the Miami area for visiting (won't say what and where for safety reasons unless people ask) and here's the lineup that I looked up and found...

4 - WFOR 4 (CBS Miami)
5 - N/A
6 - WTVJ 6 (NBC Miami)
7 - WSVN 7 (FOX Miami; wasn't working for some reason)
8 - WGEN 8 (AZA Miami)
9 - N/A
10 - WPLG 10 (ABC Miami)
11 - WLTV 23 (UNI Miami)
12 - N/A
13 - WSCV 51 (TMD Miami)
14 - N/A
15 - WJAN 41 (Spanish Ind Miami)
16 - Bravo
17 - CNN
18 - N/A
19 - USA Network
20 - TBS
21 - TNT
22 - Channel wasn't working
23 - OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network
24 - Pop
25 - MLB Network
26 - N/A
27 - Discovery
28 - HLN
29 - FOX News
30 - Nicktoons
31 - N/A
32 - Not working channel
33 - N/A
34 - TLC
35 - WPBT 2 (PBS Miami)
36 - Animal Planet

Again, if its in the wrong place, I apologize. I just wanted to post this since I was able to see this in a hospital. There are hospital lineups too you know, not just hotels. Great reminder to think about so that hospital lineups are talked about as well, not just ones from hotels/motels.

This lineup is quite odd. No ESPN, but did have MLB Network. Also WJAN (a low-power Spanish station) and WGEN (based in Key West) are present, but no WBFS, WSFL, WPXM, WAMI, WSBS, or WLRN.

Last Thursday I visited a friend staying at the Sheraton in Buenos Aires.

That brought back memories. That was where I generally stayed when visiting Mega every month or so. But I don't think I ever had time to turn on the TV except once when one of our DJs was a guest with Tinelli.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program...

What surprised me was that The Weather Channel wasn't even available too. Now some of them didn't work so remember that. It may be carrying any of those stations but I wouldn't know because the specific two channels didn't work.

I can't edit posts here so just to add to this... the only things missing from local TV on this hotel (provided by Cox) is the following:
WNBW 9.2, home to the recently launched Charge!
WGFL 28.3, home to the also recently launched TBD
WBXG-CA 33, home to SonLife Broadcasting Network
WYKE-CD 47, home to YouToo America/The Family Channel
WOGX 51.3, home to the just recently launched Light TV

They could have added WESH 2 from Orlando as well since its probably easy to get OTA in Gainesville but I'm not sure though because I don't live in the Gainesville area.

Oh and yes, the cable provider in this hotel is Cox Communications, since its the major cable provider in the area (and probably the only one in here and one of just a few handful of cities that Cox serves in Florida and that list is not much).

That's a pretty good hotel cable lineup, even with a few subchannels to boot...and free access to more than one HBO channel. Perhaps a DTA box, which is why I was able to receive almost the entire DirecTV lineup at a Hampton Inn near Portland a few years ago.

Hope you heal quickly.

I have been in hospitals for days at a time in the past, and I have noticed they generally carry the same channels as the local cables do. Frankly, there isn't much else to do than watch tv. But higher end Hospitals understand this and even bring in the pay movie channels. Not sure how that impacts the end bill!

Yikes, Channels 110-141 would not get good ratings from me!

I was in the Parker, Colorado hospital for three days in March and this line-up was a lot better than what they offered. In Parker they only offered maybe 50 channels tops. Second missing was KWGN, KCDO, KBDI and third they offed KUSA on THREE different channels. One was of course the regular KUSA but another channel was "9 News for KIDS". Kids running around the 9 News set and newsroom with their pets acting like adults. I did find it interesting though that one little girl was giving tips to weathergal Kathy Sabine on how to take care of rats. The third was the Spanish version of 9 News. "You made a choice to move to Denver.....you need to know how to speak Spanish" I was told at the Parker Hospital.

More in the next post. Sorry for typos (Typing on my tablet ftom my toom)

Cheers 😷

Is it me or are there lots of typos on here?

C-SPAN, not C-DPAN
FOX News, not Gox News
The Weather Channel, not Weather Chsnnel
All four ESPN networks had a typo: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews and ESPN-U
FS1 and FS2 now since they don't refer to the full name anymore.
* Sportsman
* Univision Deportes
* Discovery and the other one is now Discovery Life (not Fitness and Health)
* Hallmark
* Investigation Discovery
* Lifetime
* Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild
* Encore Family

If it played movies, then its the FX Movie Channel. If it was playing a comedy show or The Simpsons, then its FXX.

It's now called Freeform, not ABC Family.

* Nickelodeon

If this was done quickly or used on mobile, I understand.

I'm kind of curious as to why the local channels (other than KWGN) aren't carried on their OTA virtual channel numbers.

Remember, this is hospitals. They don't focus on this stuff. They just put it on wherever and deal with it.

Oh just realized I started this thread, but I didn't mention hospitals. MODS: just a question...how can a thread change its title based on some later posts? Just curious.
