Most obscure program you remember

On a recent TV Schedules listing from 1980, a PBS program called "Art Cart" was listed. I remember that show as a barebones art and crafts show as a kid. The thing is when you search for it online the only listing is a 17 year old message board. NO images, no videos, nothing else. What shows did you remember either nationally or locally that have nearly disappeared from existence.

"Wild Guess" -- a five-minute game show played during a break in the afternoon movie at WJAR-TV in Providence, RI, in the '60s. I remember watching this as a kid and was surprised to see a photo of the set after all these years when I Googled the show. Unfortunately, I don't remember how the game worked, other than the guesses were phoned in, or what the prize was. The article doesn't mention the show at all!

"The San Pedro Beach Bums" on ABC in 1977. It lasted 10 episodes before ABC mercifully killed it. I remember it because the guys on the houseboat had a pet penguin, and my 14 year old self desperately wanted a pet penguin, so much so that my brother and I had an elaborate plan to smuggle one out of the Memphis Zoo in a styrofoam cooler and 10 lbs of ice. My mother squashed that idea.

CBS had a reality-type show back in 1980 called "That's My Line." It was hosted by Bob Barker(then the "Price is Right" host) and two women I don't remember very well. I really enjoyed watching that show, even though it only lasted about 7 episodes.

Just noted that message board gremlins have sabotaged the URL of the Providence Journal story in my "Wild Guess" post. Anyone interested in seeing it should input the following into Google and the story should come up: "Wild Guess" WJAR.

Please, someone, fix this glitch!

Or, click below:

Providence Journal

It seems this glitch occurs on URLs that are very long (like having a newspaper headline embedded), and using the "insert link" button seems to allow them to function.

Magic Window - use to watch that once in awhile on Saturday mornings on Woi 5 it was a local kids show. It ran well into the early 1990's.

Virtually never mentioned when discussing the genius of Norman Lear but his short lived 1977 syndicated soapy ā€œAll That Glittersā€ with Linda Gray (pre-Dallas), Gary Sandy (pre-WKRP), Louise Shaffer and others. Premise was women were the professionals and breadwinners and men were the stay at home child care/take care of house spouse. I’ve only been able to find a promo commercial online, never been able to find any clips let alone full episodes.

"The Corner Bar" 1972-73 on ABC, which included the first regular gay character (though very stereotypical and would never play today).

"Football, you bet!"

Turn On. An ABC sketch comedy from 1969 from the creators of Laugh-In that was so random and scattershot that nobody understood it. Canceled after just one telecast.

From my salad days in kindergarten was Spunky & Tadpole, a serialized cartoon about the adventures of a boy and his pal, a goofy bear.

Of all the idiotic sitcoms that aired in the mid '60s, Hank was one of the most idiotic. It aired on NBC for one season (1965-66), and starred Dick Kallman as an unregistered college student who attempted to audit classes while operating a food truck. He did so in various disguises. Funny stuff, huh? Well, I thought so when I was 10. 🤪

Notable for being one of the few one-season shows that had a finale that wrapped up the series, where Hank did so well on his exams that he won a full scholarship to the university.
