Other than Bucwhyl and myself no one cares about those formats. Anything about urban/urban ac/gospel on the DFW board gets trashed.

I wouldn't say it is the format itself - I admit that I just don't care, it is another in a long list of formats I find personally irritating, but hey - if there is a market, somebody submit a business plan to a group of investors and go for it.

I must admit, too, that there is a bit of hostility on my part, but it is not directed at you. I have been through a bit with anti-CCM, anti-Christian rock types that are trying to foist southern gospel or some other flavor of gospel as the only acceptable Christian music. Now THAT is irritating! Because it may enrich somebody's spiritual life but not mine. BOR-RING! And those anti-Christian rock anti-CCM types once burst into the station where I was on the air - brandishing a weapon and going on a profanity-ridden tirade against Christian rock, for the AV-1611 Bible, and a number of other topics (all to no avail because my DJ had the foresight to click into automation - but still - it warrented a call to the police who arrived after the nut left.

You are not the nut who broke in, and I am trying very hard not to let that taint my attitude towards your format. But all preconceptions aside - I am not interested and won't be listening. I hope the format gets on the air and succeeds if there is an audience. Somehow - I don't think there is that big of a demand or it would be on something else than a daytime AM. But a lot of niche formats are relegated to daytime AM - like I say if you can convince investors - maybe it will succeed.

I do object to the way 102.5 is being jammed to produce a backhanded way to add an FM station here. If DE is right, most all AM listening is in the daytime - what does 1040 need nighttime FM for anyway if nobody listens to radio at night. As long as we are in fantasy land - why not have 1040 put HD on their translator / back door FM station and put more black gospel on HD-2. Hey - crank up the power 10 dB on the HD sidebands and see how KDGE and KDMX like it!

I do listen to the radio at night.

Personally, I don't like CCM music, but if someone wants to air it more power to them. But to me it seems that your anger toward a company that wants to legally get their station nighttime coverage is petty. Just get over it dude.

I was being a bit sarcastic - that is the argument the pro-IBOC people use to justify their massive jamming of the AM band.

Myself and the other KMAD listeners will continue to protest this assignment. 102.5 is NOT a blank frequency in the DFW area. It is occupied by popular rimshots. Are there more listeners to the rim shots than there would be to black gospel? I don't know. But as long as the new 102.5 interferes with our over the air listening, it is NOT legal. The translator must either resolve the interference or shut down. That is the law, and we intend to see to it that it is applied per FCC regulations.
