Most over used DJ names

I'll start with

1) Any and all versions of Kelly as a first name, last name, guy name ,or gal name.
2) "The Real________ _________."
3) Mitchell as first or last name.

Any help?

Rick (as in Rick O'Shay and the many variations).

Shotgun __________ (way too many to list).

The many variations of Emperor, King.

"__________Daddy _________".

But I always thought Studley Climax was unique. ;D

I know four who use the name Johnny Dark. At least four more who use Justin Case. Several Cadillac Jacks. But only one who could claim that Records really was his middle name.

Scott as a first or last name.

Summers as a last name

Shannon

St.John

So why are certain combinations of common names so overused? Does Scott McKay just sound better, or Shotgun Summers? ;D

They use the same few names for the same reason they only play a handful of songs. Certain names "test well", and people in radio who have any imagination are soon out of radio and working in television, movies, stand-up comedy, or some other part of show business where imagination is appreciated.

Another reason is that the original djs to use these names were successful, thus all the other copycats are just imitators, trying to capitalize on the success of the original.

Another overused name (and probably for the same reason that I just mentioned in the previous paragraph): Coyote. We had Coyote McCloud here in Nashville; now there is another Coyote McCloud at a station in Colorado.

I was thinking that Dusty Rhodes was the name of George Strait's character in Pure Country, or whatever was the name of that movie.

Most of us would do (or would have done) better to use our "pimp name," you know, your middle name as your first name, and the name of the street where you grew up as your last name.

I would be:

"Evan Arrowhead" (prob. would have been cool on an "Arrow" station!) or
"Evan Windcrest"

And here all this time I thought that 'Coyote J Calhoun' might actually be that guy's real name. He has been around B'ham radio for as long as I've been around.

How many Robert W. Morgans and Roger W. Morgans have
there been?

BTW, Dusty Rhodes was a pro wrestler, big in the '70s and
'80s, especially in Florida; his real name is Virgil Runnels.
