Outside of the large markets (LA, NYC, etc.) and communities along the U.S./Mexican border, What if any market has 3 Spanish stations?

Des Moines can boast it has three...locally owned KDLS, Citadel owned KBGG, and Davidson Media owned KXLQ. Any other small to medium sized market have more?

Atlanta, ga. has 15

Actually, it is 12 with only one of them having anything close to a decent, full market signal.

Hartford has 3
WRYM 840AM- Tropical
WLAT 910AM- Tropical
WPRX 1120AM- Tropical

These markets all have more than three Spanish stations:

Tijuana
Monterrey
Cancun
Acapulco
Mexico City, DF

How many major cities in Mexico have three or more English language stations?

Tijuana, Cd. Juárez. They have English stations because there are enough English speaking persons in the primary signal coverage area to support them.

Nowhere else in Mexico are there enough English-dominant listeners to make it viable to do programming in English. There used to be a number of them, in places like Mexico City, Guadalajara, etc., but they can make more money in Spanish now.

98.9/Monterrey ("D-99" IIRC) was in for awhile earlier this week. It appeared *all* the station announcements were in English... though the lyrics of the (rock) music, and all the commercials, were Spanish. Another "D-something" rock station in the northern part of the country has been heard lately with a similar format. I've heard fair amounts of English on other big-city stations in Mexico as well, though again these stations are mostly Spanish-language.

Another thing that'll fool one when DXing... are ads for English language lessons. Heard (/seen, on TV) on several occasions on Mexican stations, and it seems to be one of the largest categories of advertising on U.S-based Telemundo.

David, I noticed quite a bit of RDS use in Monterrey, but there's no obvious pattern to their PI codes. Do you know if there's a plan for assigning these in Mexico?

Going back to the original topic, Nashville has Spanish-language stations on 810, 900, and 1240, as well as 1300 at night. 1300 is the only one with any decent coverage at night.

Fort Myers/Naples/Cape Coral, FL has the following Spanish-language stations:
Rumba 1200 (WPTK-AM/Spanish Salsa & Merengue Format)
Radio Manantial 1350 (WCRM-AM/Spanish Christian Talk & Music Format)
Energia 1440 (WWCL-AM/Spanish Contemporary Format)
WAFZ 1490-AM (WAFZ-AM/Contemporary Spanish Format)
Latino 97.7 FM (WTLQ-FM/Spanish Reggeaton and Hits Format)
