most unexpected or unusual handoffs

Waco and Austin used to have 100kw equivalents (though directional) on 95.5. Once you entered Williamson County going south on IH 35, the stations flipped and that was it.

Waco and Austin are 100 miles apart. Sometime in the 90's, the 95.5 in Waco downgraded and moved to 95.7.

I didn't mention the stations in SW WA because I wouldn't consider them that unusual, but 93.3 and 96.5 have stations from Seattle and Seaside that clash around Francis. There really isn't anything unusual about that handoff though, since both stations are relatively static-filled where the handoff happens. What would be interesting is if there was a station in say Tillamook that clashed with a Seattle station around Astoria. That would be an interesting handoff, as on a car radio, at least some if not all Seattle stations come in like locals. Come to think of it, that might happen with 106.1. I was in Cannon Beach several years ago and picked up an NPR station on that frequency, but didn't have a good enough radio to hear the clash with KBKS if it existed.

Both of them ended up downgrading. Austin went from C to C1 on 95.5 while Waco went from C on 95.5 to C2 (not even a full C2) on 95.7
