I was surprised to hear 107.9 (The Track) play Marky Mark and the funky bunch-Good Vibrations a few minutes ago. Thats the first Hip Hop song that ive heard on THE TRACK ever. I know Marky Mark was more of a Dance/Pop record at the time since Urbans didnt really play White Artists back then, but if this song was out now days Urbans would be all over it. Right after Marky Marc they played Grand Funk Railroad,,, ----How do you sayyyyyyy TRAINWRECK..... THE TRACK needs to just go full Rhythmic AC or be a true Variety Hits station, cause it just sounds weird trying to be both at the same time. They either need to lighten the Disco-Motown-Dance music, or just eliminate most the Rock and Soft AC stuff. Also, something that is missing from the track, They play very little 80s New Wave, or Oldschool Freestyle,,, Both of these Genres would gain more listeners instead of playing Motown Disco Classic Rock and AC, most of which can be heard on other Indy FM stations. And what is up with that weak signal lately, when I turn on the heater in my car it puts a bad crackling on 107.9 that doesnt show up on the other INDY Class Bs, Im only 23 miles from their tower, Are they just that undermodulated still from the Lite rock days, they need to pump up the processing? Also, WZPL doesnt have good processing anymore either, some songs sound like 48k MP3 source files on both above mentioned stations. WZPL was the best sounding Processed station in the 80s and early 90s when they had Reverb... Now days Q-95 and B-105.7 have the best processing in Indy. WFMS dont sound too bad, but they are a little Bass Heavy for a country station. Surprisingly, Little old 102.3 WCBK in Martinsville has the best processing on any country station ive ever heard. Nice and natural sounding with no clipping and good dynamic range, however this does lead to more noticable static in the fringe areas past the South Side.
