Motorola 1310 Modulation Monitor

Hello,

I recently picked up a Motorola 1310 Modulation Monitor from eBay. When powering it up, the Pilot Lock light flashes for a few seconds in a decaying manner and the R&L Limit LEDs (negative and positive) stay lit. It also appears to not be able to pick up a carrier.

Has anyone had some experience with these units or seen this sort of behavior? Does Motorola still service these units?

Thanks in advance.
Brian

Brian,

IIRC these were for C-QUAM AM strereo monitoring. A quick Google search for "1310 modulation monitor" brings up a few articles that I think you will find interesting. Google is our friend!

Not likely serviceable from Motorola. Other than owning the trademark (which I believe they still do....and those "tm's" seem to show up more and more these days..along with prices of compatible equipment climbing---maybe a good sign that AM Stereo IS coming back....) Motorola abandoned the connection with the C-Quam stuff. Manuals are hard to come-by, too!

If you're lucky enough to find one, there's a 1984 and 1985 version of the (full operation/service) manual to the best of my knowledge. Not sure of the differences, I've not looked.

Initial setup includes setting some dip switches to get frequencies proper. (before even attempting any alignment.)

I'm working on attempting to set one up for us these days. Have not opened the top of the newest acquisition.

These monitors are MUCH more picky than the standard mono models!

With a little help from The Great Google, I was able to come by a manual. Still working on getting this unit fixed/aligned since time is not my friend these days.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the manual.
