Mountain Lake PBS station’s tower collapses

WCFE has quite a large coverage area with that antenna. Folks in Ottawa and Montreal can pick up the signal. It also stretches into a good chunk of St. Lawrence county (Potsdam).

For those of you who like backpacking...its a really nice hike up from Chateguay Lake up to the WCFE tower. Great views.

Update: Mountain Lake PBS is back on the air

From WCAX NewsScript for Apr 24 07-6pm cast-

WCAX-TV has agreed to let them use our(their)third digital channel .. which will show up as channel 57 if you have a high definition set and digital receiver. It is also being fed to the cable companies.
Mountain Lake hopes to build a new tower this summer.

You don't need a HD set, 99% of Set Top Boxes have a standard composite output that works with a regular TV set.
A digital set top box will map to "57-1" for WCFE (same goes for those TV sets with built in ATSC tuners).

Update on repairs...

WCAX-TV reports...

The plattsburgh station is ordering a new tower and making plans for its installation . But first permits must be obtained from the adirondack park agency ... it could take about two months to erect a new tower. They hope to be back on the air with full power by october first. the station will present a special show about the mishap at 8 PM on may 31st.
