Movement to draft Ken Wilson for permanent M's replacement

Agreed. Niehaus orginal co-announcer would be a good choice. The time has come to name a new lead announcer, and he is the logical choice. Rizz shoud be the #2 guy.

Yes, he should. I could listen to Wilson's smooth style all day long. Consummate pro.

Wish I could find a Pat Dillon audio file. He really reminds me of Wilson's style.

Mike Curto would be a better choice!
I even think Steve Sandmeyer would be a GREAT choice!
He's a solid PxP guy, knows baseball and I think he and Blowers would have great chemistry with one another.

The Mariners are probably waiting to make this announcement till the end of the season. I say, do it now. Wilson/Rizz should be the #1 team. Putting it out now will not hurt the current campaign, in fact, it may infuse it. Come on marketing guys...do the right thing.

Can't believe you put the terms "Mariners" and "right thing" so close together.

I saw the newspaper poll today and voted. Unfortunately, I sloppily voted for Dave Wilson, thinking of Ken. Ken Wilson is the logical choice. He was the original partner with Niehaus in '77.

Rizzs grates on me at times because he is is at times a little too much of a shill for the ballclub and very political as far as what he says.

I agree that Wilson is very good and he would be the best of the fill-ins by far.

As for Mike Curto? He's a solid Triple-A announcer. He is a good listen though sometimes he sounds bored. Can't blame him; To think that he works solo much of the time minus the crowd effects the MLB guys work with he does fine job. Unfortunately there are a lot of guys who get stuck in Triple-A press boxes, just as players do. It just doesn't seem like the Mariners have any interest in him. But I have to believe there will come a day when he lands a big-league gig.

Yeah, surprising and yet not surprising. I can understand wanting to bring in some new blood. I listened to a sample of his work from PI.com, and he sounds good, but somewhat generic. I still think Ken Wilson would have been the better choice. Perhaps, Ken would have brought back memories of Niehaus, which woudn't be a bad thing, but they may want to move past that at this point.

Totally agree. This kid sounds fine, but he's no Wilson. Little disheartening that he's walking in here thinking he just signed a 40-year contract.

Anyone know who the "final four" interviewees were? Ryan Divish, reporter from the TNT, said Mike Curto from Tacoma Rainiers didn't make that final group.

How in the world did you come up with that assumption?

Is this a sports blog or is there some connection to RADIO?

Yeah, a little connection to radio. The topic is about who will be broadcasting M's games on the radio.
