Movie about Philly TV Show like Bandstand?

Was there a movie about a Philly TV Show like Bandstand? I sort of remember seeing it on Showtime or Cinemax about 12 years ago. It was all about the kids on the show and how they treated each other. It was very realistic showing the El and even had red Philly police cars like the ones used in the early 60s. (A side note: I heard the Phila. police changed to blue since red may have escalated emotions at crime scenes) At the end of the movie there was a record hop at Wildwood.
Also at the end the TV show was replaced. What was this movie called and who was in it?

You're probably thinking of the movie called "The In Crowd." Its a fictional story that takes place in 1965 Philadelphia. The lead actor was Donovan Leitch (son of the well known singer/songwriter). Actor, Joe Pantoliano did a good job of playing a Jerry Blavat type of character, so much so that Blavat tried to sue the filmmakers in a suit that was settled out of court.

The voice of Hy Lit is heard in the film. Jocko Henderson appears on-screen, along with Ed Hurst in the role of a TV Director and he acted as a music consultant for the movie. The In Crowd well worth seeking out, in my opinion.

The movie came out around 1988, around the same time as the original version of Hairspray. I saw it in the movies when it first came out. I don't think it ever came out on DVD but I found a used VHS copy on ebay.

My favorite scene in "The In Crowd" is the kid sitting in his bedroom window at night twisting his transistor radio trying to get WIBG. With WIBG's cigar shaped night pattern back in the day, there was a lot of truth to that clip.
