MovieSphere Gold new diginet

From what I've seen, Movie Sphere Gold is run with minimum effort. Here are my observations from watching the Escape Plan movies earlier.
1) Univision Stations such as KTVW here in Phoenix broadcasts it in 480i H264 MPEG4/AVC with not so good bit rate. Action scenes were looking pretty bad.
2) No network ID or bumpers during breaks, only paid advertisements during breaks.
3) They do have an on screen logo and banner ads for what you are watching, what's next, and what's after that.
4) There are TV Rating and CC boxes that come on screen after each break, although at least my station doesn't broadcast any Close Caption on this Channel. I tried turning it on, but there were no subtitles.
5) Movies start at odd times, probably because no Network IDs or Promos during breaks.
6) Whether or not you get to see normal Credits seems to depend on the movie. The movie before Escape Plan had normal Credits. The Escape Plans movie had very fast Credits in a small window on the bottom left corner of the screen during the final scene.
7) The network airs a good selection of movies.

Here are some articles on this:

As said in the OP, this is coming from Lionsgate, which is part of Starz. Apparently they have a couple other Sphere services.

These article are actually about the FAST version of the network that's just called Movie Sphere and has existed for about a year. Movie Sphere Gold appears to be an OTA version with many, but not all, of the same movies. Some movies that are on FAST Movie Sphere schedule that are not on OTA Movie Sphere Gold schedule currently air on other OTA networks such as Bounce TV and 365BLK. I think the OTA movie rights belonging to other OTA networks is the reason they don't just air the same schedule as the FAST version.

Also, Lionsgate is no longer apart of Starz, they split into 2 separate companies back in May.

I tried watching "Red 2" on there last night.

Even their weird start time was off by a minute or two.

Closed captions still not working.

They take breaks at odd points in the movies and disrupt continuity in the process.

And their website has no provision for viewer contact.

I am completely unimpressed.

I can't pickup Channel 32/34 in Hartford, which is listed for Connecticut. The only Lowpower station I can pick up is Weigel's Channel 35 WHCT- LD. And sometimes Grey's channel 27 WWAX-LD. But usually to pick up Channel 27 i have to hold the antenna in one hand, raise my left foot in the air. And stick out my tounge.

I can confirm that it's on low power WDEM-CD 17.2 in the Columbus, Ohio area.

When looking at their movie schedule, it seems to list the movie start times in the Pacific time zone. So if you live in other time zones in the United States, you have to convert the movie start time from Pacific time.

Watched Hacksaw Ridge last Monday night (8/11). Horrible issue with artifacts, very low sound level (commercials were at full sound level), commercial breaks at the most bizarre times, showed the movie out of order, completely skipping from the leadup to the trial to the middle of a battle sequence, then playing the missing section after the end of the movie. Not a great start for the diginet.

Movie Sphere Gold has apparently added a few TV Shows to the Late Night lineup to fill time. Right now they are rotating between Running Wilde and Deputy according to the schedule on their website. Both of these shows only have 13 episodes, so it won't take long for Movie Sphere Gold to run through.

They really need a web person who can proofread or is more detail oriented -- if Running Wilde was a half-hour series, explain two consecutive episodes next Friday (8/22) morning, 32 minutes each, followed by a third episode that seemingly runs for 150 minutes.

And Boise (as in Idaho's capital) only has one "i".

Sadly for me, Virtual 66 is a no-show in my channel lineup, so I won't have the option of ignoring MovieSphere.

This is the reason I never warmed to the FAST channels on platforms like Roku years ago. They all apparently felt each commercial break belonged in the middle of a random sente

It must be something the younger generations are numb to and don't consider objectionable on account of sites like Youtube having always used this same sudden-baseball-bat-in-the-face method of inserting ads.

For some reason, the network’s website doesn’t show paid programming slots in their listings, and that is reflected on most other TV listings websites (except OnTVTonight, which shows a boilerplate “MovieSphere Gold Programming” idenfier for the entire schedule on the network’s affiliates).

120 minutes of the “extra-long” Running Wilde episodes are actually occupied by a two-hour infomercial block.

TiVo is still, weeks after the "launch", listing the generic "Bounce TV Programming" for 34.3 in Los Angeles. (Bounce was already simulcast on 64.1 and therefore didn't really "move".)
