Movin' 100.7 is now Country Legends 100.7

Oh come on, John Gator has done well because all the elements are right! They got lucky with a well known morning show, plus added midday & Pm jocks, sexy promotions and marketing. duh hello how could it fail..
If Renda could follow their own pattern of success like above, 100.7 wouldn't be flopping, again!

One could say they balance luck and smart decisions with incompetence while trying to save a buck.
it is what it is!

I also suspect many who post here are taking great pleasure in possibly seeing WQIK losing share. I suspect bitterness and dislike for Clear Channel & Cox is alive and well.

You might not like some of the comments, but it makes the sandbox interesting... For a while it was really boring...

We are all aware of the selective support given from up high. If I were a fly on the wall, I betcha when the pitch was made by the GM to bring back oldies and next rhythmic AC, TR would give the go-ahead but say something to the GM like this is your baby, run with it, make something of it but there are no promotion dollars. There is a pick and choose thing for formats going on over there that many of us have been saying for years to a point of nausea. And that's just my point Pocket, you said what needed to be said and that should be enough. But a la Seinfeld, I respect your right to say it.

No doubt there are those who want to see QIK's position diminish but it's all part of survival and that's a strong motivator. I mean no disrespect here and I'm not implying anything but my own personal observation of talent, some of whom I have personally known and I would kid them about it a lot, is that there is insecurity and ego. How can talent not be insecure? The environment was always tough and now it's worse than ever. And with ego, comes confidence and you have to have that. The old expression is if you don't believe in yourself than no one will. And so, if major competition is dimished, and if I were competing against it and my own personal situation went up a notch as a result, I'd be routing for that too! This isn't rocket-science.

But I believe something else is at play here and you can't discount WOKV. Earlier in the year when it looked like Obama was going to follow a moderate course, I believed the conservative talkers wouldn;t have the hook/the issues to rally their listeners and as result share would fall. I actually saw WQIK as being the biggest benefactor of this scenario as men flip regularly between the two stations. That is not going to happen now. Rush is totally on fire now getting almost hourly publicity, the conservative base is chomping at the bit and he's become even more addicting than normal. Plus, he is just great at what he does. For now, WOKV will remain the leader of the pack and everyone else will just have to fight for what audience remains. And this is another reason, I can't see Legends being a major spoiler in the short run especially it takes time for a station to catch on. But if they stay the course over time and promote effictively, they may do what they are designed to do.

"I can't see Legends being a major spoiler, it takes time for a station to catch on. But if they stay the course over time and promote effictively, they may do what they are designed to do."

The same could be said for Muvin, Plus if they added morning & PM jocks. Oldies & Arrow could have worked too with the right tools, like Gator has been given.

"when the pitch was made by the GM to bring back oldies and next rhythmic AC, TR would give the go-ahead but say something like this is your baby, run with it, make something of it but there are no promotion dollars."

Yep make it work boy, with no money! Then half way through the budget has been cut..

Then screaming and yelling and it goes something like this: "screaming" If you blank can't make this work, I'll find someone who blank can!!!!! "More screaming" You aren't going to screw up my blank radio station.
"And more screaming with jumping" I'm stick to death of your blank complaining. Now more screaming and threats" If you have questions blank better not ask me! fill in the blanks.. :) hint two words

well, legends 100.7 will be as good as renda makes it. if they do not put the marketing and jocks in to it, it will flop. simple as that. i have been yes.com ing them for some time now and it seems to be about the same songs everyday. they will get nowhere like that. i think classic country is one of those formats that has to be done right. just look at wixc in melbourne. it didn't even last two months but that is another different animal...

I haven’t had a working computer for a while, so I’m playing catchup with these boards. I just read about the flip of “Movin’” to “Country Legends,” and am disappointed. When WMUV had an online stream, I used to listen to them, and found them verry, verry, verry enjoyable. I will admit, however, that there was a lot to be desired when it came to talent on WMUV. I believe that talent would have made a difference in “Movin’s” success in Jacksonville, FL.

BTW: This flip came 1 day after KMVK (107.5 Dallas, TX) dumped the “Movin’” format, and ironically, back in 2006, both WMUV and KMVK adopted “Movin’” around the same time.

" legends 100.7 will be as good as renda makes it" Since Renda has cut everything and eliminated more people, I wouldn't count on a high priced morning team, if any. Expect more voice tracked Muvin or WSOS.
Marketing? what marketing? Going cheap all the time only ends up costing you more!
With every flip they blow off all advertisers, revenue and listeners. Plus they have to climb more hurdles to convince clients 100.7 is a good bet. So in my mind they lost more credibility and can't afford another flip if legends doesn't work. My advice is don't screw up boy, make it work..
