I think this was a smart move. They are abandoning the existing cume, so why not use the cume appeal of Christmas music to grab some presets before the move to ESPN/Sports?

The St. Louis Movin station was the worst sounding of the genre. I'm sure Alan Burns is happy to see it gone. Maybe he made them blow it up early. Its funny, their websits still says Movin', but the "now playing" area lists Christmas songs. Nice attention to detail.
Movin' was DOA in St. Louis - rhythmic formats have never done well here - when the station launched it was a typical "Movin'" station, but the ratings proved to be much lower than the Hot AC that they replaced, and gradually they tried to do damage control, and move it back towards a Hot AC, but the damage was already done.
First of all, the 24-hour Christmas music idea was ALWAYS a bad idea. Even when it does start at a "reasonable" time. And here's the thing: IT'S NOT THE RIGHT TIME. Could we possibly enjoy fall in St. Louis first, before we are bombarded by the Christmas stuff?!? Is that really so much to ask? Who's idea was this???

In my opinion, it’s wayyyyy too early to run a Christmas music format. I mean, Cmon, we haven’t even scared the lil’ kids yet on Halloween, and we’re breaking into a chorus of “Jingle Bells?” I’m sorry, Bonville, but it’s just way too damn early for this. Send santa back to the North Pole for a month or so. It hasn’t even started snowing yet. This is silly, and stupid. Yo, Bonville! It’s October 12, not December 12. Get with the program!

I just ran across this radio station and just had to call back home to let them hear what was on the radio. This is totally insane lol. But I am learning that nothing seems to shock me here. But hey, if you listen to it long enough, you may just believe its cold outside lmao
Why not do another stunt besides Christmas music? Stations used to be so much more inventive in their stunting.

I was this close to visiting St Louis last Friday, imagine how much I would be surprised to hear Christmas music when it was 84 degrees outside. In Philadelphia when Sunny 104.5 pioneered the all-Christmas format, "it wasn't even Thanksgiving yet". Now, it's not even Halloween yet.
They should put 106.5 The Arch on 101.1 and ESPN on 106.5.

I have a friend in the STL area who might have an aircheck of Movin.' Have to find his email though. And you know what? I want Christmas music early. Just the other night in the shower I thought to myself 'I am so sick of all this regular AC music.' How about this for a really bad idea - 24 hours of NON-stop loops of Billy Joel's "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me"? That song gets on my nerves so much as well as John Mellancamp's "Little Pink Houses" and "Small Town." I mean, enough is enough! These are not #1 songs of today!!! Bring on the Xmas music! I also vote to bring back Movin' afterwards, or The River!

It's ironic and typical in radio that the last book before a format flip would be fabulous, and Movin's was. Too bad the big "B" couldn't wait it out long enough to continue to get a following. It's typical corporate radio.
