MOViN' 107.5 is gone!

Speaking of 107.5, has anyone noticed that The Oasis' online stream is down because they blew out the servers from overload? Heh.

Maybe it's time to get that format MOVIN' on out of here so the Oasis can return...

I saw that on the website too... and it reeks of hyperbole. I am not buying that explanation for a minute. First of all, CBS operates a huge streaming network with massive capacity. Adding a few thousand more slots is not a big deal and doesn't require you pulling down the existing stream.

More likely they are trying to figure out if and how they are going to pay for something that doesn't make any money.

Yeah right. The Oasis is never coming back. When they blow up Movin, look for 107.5 to go in the direction of 95.7 in Houston.

Most likely BUT for the sake of worry, CBS had a great run with Country here on 105.3 and they know how to put a great Country station together.

Would Citadel or Cumulus have the budget right now to hold someone off ? Or would a quality Country newcomer reignite the Country radio scene in DFW ?

Its waaay over saturated ,just like the non-english language south of the border air polluter stations, and talk. Its whoever has the best sales staff who can sell a slurpee to an eskimo type of format you hear. Listeners are not an option.

I'm going to go ahead and say Cumulus and Citadel could not hold off a new country outlet at 107.5. I bet they're
holding their breath that MOViN doesnt go Country. Those promotional dollars aint quite what they used to be in those
two outlets. These arent the Susquehanna / ABC days anymore. There's way to much greed there now....

MOViN, although not great with 12+, is respectable in their target and puts money on the books (something the Oasis couldn't do). They're not going country...or anything for that matter.

I don't have have access to MOViN's target demo numbers. But if its as you say and MOViN is doing better than Oasis ever did, whose to say a Country Station on that Frequency with CBS's backing couldn't do even better than MOViN in its own Target Demo? With the cutbacks at Citadel and Cumulus how they are, CBS could come in with a strong signal like 107.5, and really shake it up. Also, they seem to be one of the few remaining companies that put some kind of money and programming knowledge into their stations. They could make a splash in Dallas.

You can always get a vibe if mgt is planning on any changes, and there's no vibe. I truly believe they feel that MOViN is a work in progress that is continually getting better...and it's starting to hit and exceed it's budgets, which will fend off any ideas of a format flip. Now, in 12 months, if the billing's in the tank, then it's possible they could make a move, but the wheels would have to fall off.

But Wolf is down to barely top 10 and KSCS is down to barely top 20 and Twister is so bad that it's all over but the funeral. Why go country?

Why go country? Precisely because these other stations are doing so badly. And anyone can put out a better product than this. They don't seem to be trying.

Okay, what different product would you put out there? How would you either program this mythical station, or tweak the music, or what have you, to beat the Wolf and KSCS?

The product coming out of the recording studios is lame, lousy with VERY FEW exceptions. It's gone into "American idol od mode" The format needs an overhaul and too many stations have over saturated it. DFW doesnt need another Country, Talk or Spanish "its a language not a format" formatted station. The market on nausea has been cornered.

country

Yeah it's a weird time in country radio. Unfortunately the problem with The Wolf is that Cumulus bought it!

It's sad to see KSCS drop so much in the last year. I wonder how much the new Citadel coprporate agenda has affected their programming.
