HOLY COW! ALRIGHT BABY! I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! Just when Wylly told me, a CC channel can't have it but wait.... [email protected]

Is Radio One buying Mix and launching Movin' or did she just buy the domain so no one would take it?

Hmm..

From a source not to be mentioned on here:

Who’s Movin Next?
October 6th, 2006
Posted by Lance Venta
Over the past few weeks, the Movin’ brand has exploded from coast-to-coast.

This week alone the Rhythmic AC brand has debuted in Dallas and Portland. But, where else could the format be popping up?

A known programmer in Wichita, KS has taken out the movin923.com and movin963.com domains. Journal Broadcasting happens to own 92.3 KMXW and 96.3 KZCH there. However the address points to Clear Channel’s offices in the market.
Why would the GM of Radio-One’s Cincinnati cluster register Movin941.com and a few variants? Radio-One doesn’t own any stations on 94.1 anywhere in the country and 94.1 in Cincinnati is Clear Channel’s WVMX
Movin975.com is registered to Trumper Communications. Trumper owns one station currently; Phoenix area rimshot KRZS, which happens to be on 97.5. The station is currently a Standards/Jazz hybrid.
We’ve saved the biggest for last. Movin1019.com and Movin1019.net were originally registered to Blake Lawrence, who happens to be Program Director of Emmis’ Smooth Jazz “CD 101.9″ WQCD in New York and previously programmed XM’s Dance channels. After we discovered this, the registrations were immediately transferred to Network Solutions Private Registrations. We may be stretching here, but Emmis uses Network Solutions for all of their corporate domain registrations.
What makes this registration stick out as well is that New York already has two stations, “Mix 102.7″ WNEW and 103.5 WKTU with the Rhythmic AC format albeit more disco and motown oriented than the normal Movin affiliate.

We’ll keep digging around on those and more.

Radio-one does not own 94.1 though? Doesn't CC? Is any of this true? Somebody explain this to me... read my profile. I'm only, how old?

OK guys, the conspiracy theorists will join your little club...

It is plainly obvious why these stations/companies are registering these web site domains. They are protecting their products from a possible threat at a competitor's signal. If a competitor flips these guys are smart enough to prevent them from having the most obvious url's.

Chances are that neither of these situations mean those are going to be the Movin' outlets. Most likely they have a format that they are concerned might be threatened.

As for "noticing more rhythmic product"... that probably means they are--again--protecting themselves from a possible flip.

Ahh.. well.. with all these changes goin' round I am esctatic! Changes I've Heard:

94.1: HEHE, I hear MOVIN''s footsteps
96.5: Twilight Zone Stunt
97.3: Sounding.. ehh.. HORRIBLE
100.3: Sounding A LOT like MOJO
101.9: Sounding a lot more rhythmic... playing E-40? Wow, I mistook that for KISS FM
102.9 (DAYTON): Sounding A LOT better.. Fixed crossfading issues.. sounding like Channel 945 now
103.5: Sounding more jammin' and didn't hear any jocks while listening for the bit I did this morning.

Clear Channel usually Names its Rhythmic AC stations in this case for 94.1 would be 94.1 the Party. i dont think i've seen a clear channel station use the Movin name. Just like CC usually doesnt name its variety hits Stations Jack. Look in Grand rapids MI its Variety Hits station is 96.1 the Max, Louisville has 100.5 Louie FM as its variety Hits station. i think the only CC Rhythmic AC Station not known as the Party is Philly's 106.1

True... I think it just may be "protecting domains" like that dude earlier said. There's no way CC would use Movin'. Would they?

Don't forget the roadmap that the poor "Star" listeners will have to get...96.5 one day, 94.9/96.5 the next, then solely 94.9 and now 97.3 with a whole new name. Geez!

Yeah, that was bad. I was walking into Kroger here in Dayton and some old lady had it tuned to 94.9 but this week-next week, she'll have to make a NEW preset adjustment to 97.3. HEY, any idea what's going to happen with Q102? ooooooh.. and 94.1 I think is dying. BTW, listen at midnight tonight hopefully for FM Talk to begin on 96

Maybe have Q go head to head with Kiss? 94.1 is not the same as even a month ago. I have to do a double-take when they play artists like Nirvana - who knows. I would like to see more local stuff on 96.5 but I guess we will see how it flies!

I am hearing way more upbeat stuff on Q. HAHA, I also heard the new way they did the TOH when they said "A CBS Radio station' or whatever.. they now say Q. Q! LOL... anyway.. I say make Q kind of like Z-93 and have it get up there in the ratings. I would love for it to really be Cincinnati's Hit Music but I have a feeling that it may go 80's.... oooooh after Star is dropped.. that would be perfect. Star101.9- Cincinnati's REAL 80's! Or ya know!

Clear Channel has already invested in their own format lab within their Content Research & Development Group. Why would they buy from outside the company? The Movin' product (yes, it's a product) is a competitor.

Notice the expiration date? They must not be too convinced of this format ;D

well the recently renewed registration of the WGRR Website only goes from a year from now as well. so i wouldnt lead to much into the only year long registration on the 94.1movin.com and variations by Radio-one
