Movin 97.5 Phoenix - Evolving To CHR/Pop?

http://www.movin975.com/

KMVA is a Rhythmic/AC that targets the Phoenix market, although their signal isn't strong in the wealthy southern suburbs of Tempe and Chandler.
They are one of the most current-friendly Rhythmic ACs in the country, alongside 103.5 KTU New York. In fact, Movin 97.5 played "Party In The USA" by Miley Cyrus about 75 times this past week. It's also just added Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" to its playlist, and is the only Rhythmic AC on the panel to have it in rotation (already receiving 40 spins). Also added this week is Daughtry's "No Surprise" and Colbie Cailat's Top 20 CHR/Pop hit "Fallin For You". Other additions include Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone", Pink's "Sober", and Michael Franti's "Say Hey". Overall though, the core sound of the station remains Rhythmic/Pop. There are also some 80s titles still being played at the station, but it's obvious there are some changes in the air.
Movin 97.5 also carries both Ryan Seacrest and Billy Bush's daily shows.
We'll soon see if Movin continues to evolve more towards CHR, maybe head more towards Hot AC, or perhaps will find a way to stay part of the Rhythmic AC family.

Sounds about like z-1035 here in virginia,, I hope z-103.5 in marion va will stream soon so you guys can see and here what a unique station it is, its like chr, rhythmic ac, and 80s adult, and rock all rolled into one,, they need to ditch bob and sheri though,, some dont like billy bush and jackson blue just because they arent local, but I like J/b and bush is better than seacrest like J-104.5 has on all day it seems.

I guess they are sounding pretty good then. I haven't listened for a while... but I must admit that the Saturday Night Block Party is the best.

I also enjoy KZZP a bit more lately. Normally I like KZZP when they start drifting more alternative, which is the case this time again, but the last time they did that I didn't like it. I guess the last round of people all coincidentally doing alternative pop hits weren't that good to me. I like the Saturday night mix shows on KZZP more now that it's obvious that they focus more on electronic sounds. You probably don't get a variety of booty bass, house, and other styles of beat patterns all mixed up like on Movin, but you do at least get a lot of repetitive house patterned electro-pop, electro hip hop, and house. No more straight hip hop for an hour or even two, like they used to.

KZON... rhythmic.... they never really drift away from their sound or have set times for certain things. What you get on the playlist you also get in the mix, but just more of it. For Ex. you get some hip hop hits on playlist, you get a bit more deeper or "harder" stuff in the mix. You get David Guetta or something else in regular playlist, then you might get a deeper house or bass remix of it in the mix, but you don't get "old school at this time", or "all dance at this time" - they keep it pretty consistent all day. Although they lean top 40, they don't go as far as kiss, especially now with all the alternative pop that KZZP has added. I like them with the rhythmic chr sound, more than the more urban sound they used to carry a year or two back.

KKFR is also rhythmic, but they don't get as deep into the pop sound as KZON. They are the closest to a current urban sound that we have in Phoenix. KKFR plays the most variety of electro-house music on air during the week over all out of all stations in Phoenix. I'd say they probably play the most current hip hop out of all stations, too. KKFR has a pretty decent format itself.. but of course - especially if they sound more like Power 106.

Just wondering how long all these stations will be able to exist all together as is? They are all different, but I bet many people can't even see the difference between most of them. KVIB did a smart thing by drifting away from their rhythmic side, using less bilingual, and going more spanish.
