Movin 975 in Phoenix...

So how long has the station been working this format? Who consults? Are all their dayparts filled? I get the station most places in the east valley. Where does the signal begin to fade? Hope all is well with everyone!

What up, freak nut!! Hope all is well with you and the kiddos there in AZ. Doing mornings at CC's KSYU(Hot 95.1) in ABQ and online at hot951.com. Holla. Send me an e-mail on the station website, and I'll get you the digits, hometown!! Laterzzz!!!

Whats up Benny!!! Glad things are going well in the 505. I see AGM is looking for ANOTHER GM!! (Is that what the letters stand for?) Still doing the same here in Phoenix - Getting ready to "test the waters". Maybe a PM or Night gig. Can't give up the day job - makin' real money there!!!! Check the ratings link for Phx numbers. Think they're still glad 1039 switched formats? Take care dude!

Ahhhhhh Radio...that mistress that we just can't let go of. She is a tempting thing to return to. I've been there before, my brotha, and I can understand why you want to return!! When she's yours, she's VERY good to you. Then she has budget problems, cutbacks...wants to go in a different direction, and then she lets you go, even though it wasn't you...it was her...you just don't fit her plans anymore. She'll wish you well, and give you 3 months of severence...then nothing!! DAMN!!! WHY DO WE DO THIS TO OURSELVES?!?!?! Good luck, homie. A station there will be getting a top notch talent. Laterzzz!!!

They flipped at 5pm on a Friday in late September or early October...October 6th I think?

Who consults?

Alan Burns. More info @ http://www.burnsradio.com/movin/

Station is owned by Jeff Trumper.

Hard to tell. For instance, I think they were jockless yesterday evening, but I've heard a live voice on some nights.

In a car, it's difficult to receive KMVA along the 51, from approximately Colter/Camelback to just south of Shea. I believe it's also weak along Camelback itself. Car signal seems excellent in NE Scottsdale (meaning Shea headed east towards Fountain Hills), but even there, it's difficult if not impossible to receive on an ordinary radio (i.e. boombox/clock radio.) Not sure about other areas.

Thanks! I get it very strong on a walkman in the Falcon Field area. Better than the KUPD signal at times. In 2007 your signal needs to be heard from new homes near White Tanks to mobile homes in A.J.. You can have success with a limited signal - you just need the proper niche.

Absolutely. Look at KKFR, which has basically the same (possibly a bit weaker?) signal as KMVA - it has a 3 share. Given the available formats in our market, I would say that they are maximizing the potential of what they have to work with.

When KBZR (later KPTY) first began “moving in from the desert” back in 1996-97, they managed a 3.2 share with the original "Arizona's Party Station" – and that was on either the old Coolidge signal or the early days of the Gilbert signal (they’ve upgraded that Gilbert signal significantly at least one more time since that original move-in.) By playing hip-hop and potraying a “street” image that Power 92 wouldn’t offer, they scared KKFR enough into a format/presentation change within a year.

If there’s a demand for the product, people will tune in.

Godfather!!!!!!!! Hope all is well, homie!! I thought of you earlier this year. ABQ instituted a ban on cell phone use in the car without a headset, and I could still see YOU roaming the halls there in Scottsdale with your headset 6 years ago!! I kept thinking to myself..."damn, Godfather's talking to himself again!" Hilarious!! You stay strong, ese!!

DANG!!! 2 Bennys in the same day! How you doin'?!? Every time I'm near the coliseum, I think back to that club just west of there & a certain New Years Eve - - or was it 4th of July - and the girl/guy that was interested in Chris!!

As for KPTY - I (& 2 others in this string) got to see how niche is done. When Rick Thomas helped bring "Steve" in from the desert - and later after it was a full rhythmic CHR - leaning dance. In both cases it needed to be promotions heavy. Lots of street presence - chasing an active demo. How busy does "movin' " have to be? It seems that they're demo could possibly be a little of the same.

Well, now Movin has a hot new promotion to really bring everyone in. Listen for your name at some certain time and you could win a "G"... you know, the "G" that isn't in "Movin'". Wasn't this boring nonsense the rage in 1992? ??? ???

Scrappy!!!
I remember it all to well New Years Eve at the mad house on McDowell 2000 people strong at the club every saturday night, chris was crazy,,,,, & the original Az party station rise was heavy street promotions ....not to sound crazy my street imaging lent credibility to the party( I had to finally say it!), we did it big to bad some had their ego's & greed in the way of the bigger picture but I still road that wave from 1996-2004 what a ride. I gotta say I miss hearing you on air Scappy with Benny & the Gretho( vicente fernandez) by the way check out www.krckradio.com let me know what ya think. Oh & Benny I still got my ear piece on it now bluetooth :) no strings attached.

"Godfather"

Bluetooth!!??! ...MASPUTO!!! Just kidding, homie. Stay strong!!

How about those commercials - a collage of people's asses - I predict a Clio award for that one.

Why don't suits think to consult with creative people while they are shoveling out so much cash for television ads???

The credit all goes to George Lopez...he said it first. Much love to all my AZ family!!

Reach out to me at my last name at cox.net. I am starting to hear the station on at a few businesses....WalMart radios, etc......

The Subway on 7th Street & McDowell has been playing it for quite some time as well.

I saw that commercial during the Suns/Spurs game on Tuesday night. While the creative element leaves much to be desired, at least they are spending $$$$ to advertise during high-rated, high-profile programming.
