Movin 99.3 WZAX is NOW 99.3 The beach!

All I know is when I was in college my roommates and their friends said they were going to a beach music concert. I assumed the style of Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys.

I've come to like some of the music, but I get tired of 94.9 the Surf at Myrtle Beach.

Not to mention no stunting they haven’t changed the website. The RDS is not active so the songs aren’t showing up online. It’s basically format roulette trying to find anything that will stick. I do miss the days when stations change the format with a bang.

I'm not sure format changes really need anything special on the air.

My two most successful format flips were:

WSRA-Beautiful Music to WZNT All Salsa in San Juan. Turned off the Beautiful Music at 6 PM on a Friday before New Year's weekend intending to come back at midnight with the first all-salsa format anywhere. But by 7:40 PM, I got impatient and turned it on, playing whatever song was next on the music log. There was no "inauguration" or artist liners. 300 GRPs in TV over next two days. 20 days later, #1 in 30-station market with a 22 share.

Radio News to Mega 98.3 in Buenos Aires. "Radio News" was actually an MOR station with about a 1 share. One Thursday around 10 AM we decided we were ready, ran dead air for a few minutes while we removed the old record library hard drive from the system and switched drives to the new Argentine-only rock format. Just played whatever song was next on the log and the jock who was scheduled for that shift came on between songs. No outside promotion at all; #1 in 180 station market after less than a month with an 18 share.

WTRG rocked 'n rolled under Dave's guidance. Numbers were better before Corporate (Buddy Scott) came in and screwed with the music (Dave knew the market, knew that the station should slant R&B/Beach, plus the hits of course) ... and then saddled the station with John Boy & Billy after WRDU dumped them (due to sliding numbers) and picked up Bob and Tom. CC didnt' want WBBB to get JB&B, so parked them on WTRG.. SO ill-fitting. Three years JB&B were parked. Didn't get them removed til August 04. Too late by then. Of course Marc Chase didn't "get" the format. WTRG one of about eight stations throughout the SE that were flipped 2003-04. Now, the format is one of renewal due to it doing well in PPM.

You never know. There are lots of social media outlets and somehow it didn't look like Facebook.

It looked exactly like facebook to me before even clicking the thumbnail to enlarge it
