Movin 99.7 Morning Show

Movin has hired a new morning show. Baltazar and Maria. Baltazar former of WKTU in NYC, and Maria from Houston. It's their first time working together as a team.

My condolences to Baltazar and Maria. Movin is dead and they won't save it either! Posters on the seattle board are saying that Mark Preston killed his station by the bay and the proof is in the ratings. The market is
oversaturated with this music already. This is just another wasted frequency in the city by the bay!

When you are a new station, wouldn't it make sense to bring in something established?

I think Strawberry would have been a decent fit for mornings. He can't talk for four hours, but can definitely do a good blend of music and then some banter.

Instead, they pluck Bob and Jim off the street and throw them to the wolves. Can't wait 'til they start on air and the critcism of their show starts...

Movin'? I was driving home and heard One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey. I pulled over to the side of the road, so I could break dance to that one...

Excuse me...both hires are great talent with tons of experience. I can speak as a huge fan of Maria Todd of KRBE fame. She will be a hit for sure. Congrats to Movin SF for a great decision! This station will take off over the next few months just like it will in LA. Both Movins flipped from Non-compatible formats. The most compatible format for Movin to flip from is Hot AC with CHR/R being second, CHR/M being third and Latin CHR being 4th(KZZA Dallas format)! Very few of the KFRC listeners stuck around so they started from scratch...give them a freakin break. Same for the LA Movin critics...lay off...they just started hiring more airstaff...this format is a work in progress around the nation. In 1 year all the Movin critics will have mud in their faces...this format has more life than the HOT AC format and more potential for Cume and TSL. PERIOD!

Every group in the demo that they do for the format says the same thing. The women love the music, but all say they think they might get tired of it fairly quickly. It is yet to be seen if this is a format that has legs even if it succeeds.

Redbullfan is the only with making any real sense. Other than Seattle, no Movin has even been on a full 6 months. It's not logical in the ARB world to be able to evaluate the results yet. I agree that if things ain't workin at 1 year, then we can all laugh....although, anyone who knows how to view what happened in phase 3 of the Fall might have their eyes opened...

DougR... correct, who knows if it has legs....no one knew if KFOG would last either....research is all about how one reads it... to say THEY ALL will get tired is a stretch...whether it will burn, who knows..KISQ plays a pretty tight list (similar genres, but older) and seems to be hanging in just fine.

RadioStarOne..."Mark Preston"???....LOL

It doesn't matter if they are any good, because they have no names in this market. In a day and age where it is so hard to make any real splash, doing it with people who nobody knows, regardless of how talented or untalented they are, won't get it done.

I'm saying, bring in a well known talent, who has an established following and build off of that.

Aside from the personalities, the music is ESPN Jock James Volume 3 from 1998. Songs from time outs at Warriors games...

You're kidding, right? You have to have a name in the market already to be successful? I'm guessing someone forgot to tell Sarah on Alice she couldn't make it here when she and Vinnie came here from Philadelphia? Or when Don Bleu came here an unknown from Los Angeles, or when El Piolin was imported on satellite from Los Angeles on KSOL or before Gene Burns on KGO loaded his U-Haul and moved here unknown in this market from Boston? I'm guessing I could go on and on.
With few exceptions, almost everyone comes from somewhere--the Renel's of the world are an exception, not the rule. It's a crazy notion to think you have to be known to succeed. Do you actually think someone who is "known" but not that great would actually be better than someone who might be brilliant or great and just not "known"...

People move from market to market and succeed all the time....

When you are starting new--a station with no identity. Why isn't Free-FM getting any type of success? It's a who's who...

Now it is a different day and age of radio, where you are competing with iPods, CDs and what not. Listenership is already down across the board. So what I am saying is bringing in someone established in this market.

When you are talking the Don Bleu's, Dog House or other successful talents, they didn't come to a brand new station.

people probly are tired of local talent and like other talents from other places, me included and you can't include talk programs because not everyone likes talk radio, so thats a flaw

I hear they are advertising that the new morning show starts this Thursday. Let's give them tme to get their chemistry going, or should I say Movin'!

KYUU was a brand new station to the bay area and Don Bleu was brought in for afternoons going up against great talent at KFRC (John Mack Flanagan) Don was very succesful right away at KYUU that they did a jock shuffle and took the known local market personality Big Tom Parker a KFRC 4 year vet off Mornings and moved Bleu to mornings and shuffled Parker to afternoons.

Hhhhhmmmmmmm Baltazar last stop was KTU in NYC. Wasn't there someone else from KTU that was supposed to be here on MOViN 99.7? Oh yeah, where is Broadway Bill Lee??????

I listened for 5 minutes, they sound ok...Music is horrible. Maria is actually kinda funny...

Dean was ok but Cammy sounded like an old whiney lady complaining about her artritis, she sounded better doing traffic on the old KNBR back in the 80's.

Bill Lee has made the cross over to XM, he can now be heard on the 80's channel doing 4pm to 8pm drive time in the east coast, 1pm to 5pm in west.
