MOViN 997 new logo

Looks much better IMO... I noticed it when I was listening to them live.

They should've just went a step further and rename themselves AMP 99.7. I mean Movin'?! Come on...

Maybe that is why the word MOViN is in parentheses.
(Yes, because parentheses alone can add so much to a word, or in this case a response....)

Is Movin 99.7 a Top 40 station now? Are there any original Movin stations left or did CBS phase them all out?

MOViN 99.7 is considered "rhythmic AC," but unless somebody can explain otherwise, I'd say it's what passes for "Top 40" in an urban market these days.

If you Google "Movin," you'll find some stations, but they appear to be different formats - mostly Top 40...but one promises a '"70s-80s mix." I think it's become just another miscellaneous radio branding label like "Kiss," "Star," "Wave," etc.

But if you see on CBS Radio's website/live streaming player, they call Movin CHR/pop. They used to call them a rhythmic AC back in the summer if I recall, but when I listened it was pure CHR...

These labels seem to be quite malleable. It's Arbitron that lists MOViN as "rhythmic AC." They list KYLD as "rhythmic CHR," and I can't personally tell a whole lot of difference between the two stations in terms of music. Oddly, Arbitron list KMEL as "rhythmic contemporary hit radio" (words spelled out - no initials). I DO detect a substantial difference between the play list of KMEL and the other two.

Of course, I'm an out-of-the-demo fogey, so I probably just don't understand what is obvious to you young groovy hip people. That's still the word you use..."groovy"....right? I know "boss" went out of fashion a couple of years ago...
