word is that preston's trying to convince the cbs brass to throw in the towel at 99.7...he wants to go head on with mild 94.9 and show them how it should be done. air talent in other markets have been contacted the countdown is on. it was fun while it lasted...now we'll have no place to hear marky mark & the funky bunch :( !

LOL. Do you have a legitimate source on this? I'm willing to bet that it does not change.

hmmm...let's see - if i gave sources i would imagine they may find themselves in some hotwater. i said what had to be said let's just sit & wait. this isn't a jan move ...this would be a mid year pre fall book move.

Movin' ratings? How are they, and compared to what?

How long is a valid timeframe to justify change, if need be?

Radio is a business before it can be anything else.

If the Movin' format is tossed away, is there another station in the same market (with poor ratings) that would much rather have the current Movin' ratings than what they have now?

If so, Movin' will just resurface under a new creative name, Burns media won't get any royalties, and...well, you get the idea...

it has nothing to do with seattle. i started this thread because i've heard from people within the company and outside the company who have been talked to about this change.

"I think he started this topic because the "Movin" in Seattle is flipping."

Wasn't Seattle the city where MOViN was supposed to be a big success? When 99.7 flipped, I seem to remember the CBS suits talking about what a hit it was up there as justification. The format has not been a big hit elsewhere as far as I know.

If MOViN is GOiN away in Seattle, what does that say?

Again, radio is a business before it can be anything else.
Is there any rumour of other competition outside of the mentioned stations possibly changing to the mentioned format?

Is it wise to flip movin', in trust that it beats the "other guy" to it?

I have no ratings handy, but I do understand movin' is most likely to...at the very least, do some tweaking...am I correct?

Or is movin' doing just fine the way it is?

...a business before it can be anything else, and Rule #2:

IF it ain't broke, don't fix it!

(this includes consideration in respect to tweaking, if necessary, rather than doing a format flip...unlessthere is solid fear another source will grab the format movin *could* have changed to, if they don't)

ooo. okay. Gee, thanks for the heads up. LOL. Either way, I understand the need to protect your sources. I'll clarify my original post, I didn't mean to mean actual names. 'someone in the company' is good enough. However, chances are you and I know the same people. And I understand the secrecy leading up to a switch, including the speculation.

With that said, I have not heard a single thing from anyone on the inside or outside. Go ahead, just say it's apart of the secrecy. If I'm wrong, let me be the fool come "mid year pre fall book." ;D

Much respect to you, RadioCrusader. Also, are you going to miss Movin? I know you were previously liking the station's sound and Mr. Mike Preston.

Yeziknoradio, I love your 2 posts and happen to agree with both your points. "radio is a business first."
