Movin does an 80's Labor Day Weekend

I heard it coming in to work this morning and I got to admit, it actually sounded good. Not just the same 80's songs that Star or KROQ used to play. It actually reminded me of Power 106 of the 80's. Then that hack cruise boat singer came on, and ruined my drive, but I digress. Maybe this is what movin should flip to, and give up the sorry A55 played out oldies and slow jams. IMHO ;D

ill give it a listen.loved Power 106 back in the 80s.i would trip if they give us a boris and cris club mix.

This weekend screams for Boomer, Mucho, or maybe Charlie Huero

i can hear it now....THE BOOMERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brenda ross!i think the majority of us miss the great days of Power 106.thats why i listen to tapes just about every day of the Power of old.

Let's don't forget Jay Thomas. Throw him in there too.

Mornings -Jay Thomas with Monica Brooks and Power Mouth Patty
Mid Days - Mucho Morales (?)
Afternoons - Joe "The Boomer" Servantez
Nights - ?
Overnights - was it Bill Alexander?

To the best of my knowledge of the on air lineup on Power 106 was as follows:
5-9AM- Jay Thomas
9-12- Jeff Wyatt
12PM-3PM-Brenda Ross
3PM-7PM-Mucho Morales
7pm-Midnight- Joe "The Bommer" Servantez
And I do believe that Bill Alexander did do overnights from 12AM-5am.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about this lineup. :D

your right.boomers night jam at 9 with a 1/2 hr of boris and cris club mixes, allways loved them.

Speaking of the old Power 106 days. I remember at the top of the hour, their station ID would mentioned 72,000 watts of music power. But, if you go into www.radio-locator.com. It shows KPWR's effective radiated
power as 25,000 watts.

Maybe my main man David Edwardo can clue my dumb a$$ to what happened ::)

Thats the lineup. I love how they had 3 hour shifts too! :)
also The Saturday Night Dance Party was bascially Boris & Chris 30 min mixes all night.. Before Powertools came along.
American Dance Traxx on Sunday nights with Jeff Wyatt (LOVE that countdown show)
and they played Casey Countdown Sundays too. It was outta place from the regular format....

In September of 1990 they changed it to Power 106 "LA's Hottest Music".... Still Dance music in the mix but less of it.

Maybe K-Earth should pick up the 80's Power format...after all, it is now going on 30 years old! Would that be an oldie now?

They moved from Flint Peak to Mt. Wilson and lost their grandfathered power. In exchange they gained height.
