Been checking out Philly 106 this weekend and their new Movin format. Is this just an updated jammin oldies format????? Sure sounds like it.

I think the Movin' style format in Philly sounds much different than the offical format in Seattle (http://www.movin925.fm/). I like the format in Seattle much better than in Philly. Maybe Philly will eventully get there, so I will wait a while to pass judgement.

After hearing 104.5/106.1's dualcast of the new format, by no means are they a 'Movin' format! They need time to develop and let the format grow.

But the music I am hearing is not even close. Some songs, they have the idea. But cut out the slow stuff to maybe one song per hour and add some current dance mixes in! That would work a whole lot better.

Besides, what Mix 102.7 does in NYC is that they play the dance single of PCD's Dont'cha and yet we're stuck with the main release, making me believe that dance music is prohibited in the Philadelphia listening area! ???

As Livin' Joy said in Don't Stop Movin' in 1995, "You've Got To Get It Right!"

Philly 106.1 has a KTU no repeat workday depth feel to it, but in what I've heard without the freestyle and dance remixes... they play the original pop versions of most songs...

what exactly is a movin' format?

so to clarify would you say NYC's KTU and MIX are not movin' formats? I have yet to look at the movin' format playlists and assumed it was more like MIX 102.7, NYC. I guess not.
thoughts....?

Movin' isn't really a format.
It's a brand.
Anyone can play those songs, but you have to pay Alan Burns & Associates if you want to call it Movin'.

We have a station here in Austin that within the past 6 months has moved from the Jammin Oldies format to I guess you could say a Moving format. They play 80's, 90's and today with alot of upbeat and dance songs. Heres the website. www.Jammin1059.com.
