Movin' Format in South Florida

I want to know from the experts if they agree that this format would absolutely work in this market when you take into account the possibilty of resurrecting two missing genres into the format (freestyle and music).

I know South Florida moves slowly when it comes to following niche format trends (jammin oldies, jack, hurban) , but does anyone agree with the idea of this format working well on an underperforming station?

In case you haven't heard about it yet , here's the sample of the Movin format......

isnt this the same as that new rick dees format in LA?

Most Movin' stations are Alan Burns consulted. The LA one is a hybrid, licenced form Burns and consulted by Guy Zaploeon and overseen by Rick Cummings. LA is far more Hispanic targeted than "other" targeted since LA is 42% Hisipanic and even more in the target 25-44 female demo. Dees long had an assimilated Hipanic female appeal.

The playlists seem to vary by market, as should be.

well...although 102.7 should flip...the name 'movin' is pretty lame.. like 'mega' is a lame name..and that name didnt work out for 103.5...(and i predict it wont work for 94.9 either).

maybe they should call it X-102? it is WMXJ after all ;)

Don't know if you're kidding.

But even if so, some probably aren't aware of this.

There's an X-102.3 just up the road in Jensen Beach: WMBX, "Blazin' 18 Jamz In A Row"

All I can say is, "it must be jelly 'cause jam don't shake like that, doo-wah doo-wah doo-wah!"

What alot of you are leaving out of this discussion is the obvious.

That is, what occurred in Denver (as in Colorado with KMGG, not as in Dave Denver) could happen here.

Mega could 1)Go down the toilet, or 2)be exiled to the HD-2, and 94.9 could be the one switching to Rhythmic AC, with Whoopi in AM Drive, and little to no lineup changes the rest of the day. Leo and Dimas (and possibly even the midday jock, including the Freestyle mix and many of the mixers, who are legacy names in the market), could stay in such a scenario. And Frank Walsh has the programming experience for such a format, too, dating as far back here as WMJX/"Disco 96", also WTHM "Rhythm 98" (nee "La Kalle") during the Freestyle craze, and "Power 96".

Very surprised nobody has mentioned that, in light of Reggaeton being all but dead, the numbers for WMGE in the tank, and CC rolling out the "Rhythmic AC with Whoopi in AM Drive" format just about everywhere, even in markets where it makes little to no sense, like Rochester, NY.

Please keep in mind there are alot of new faces arriving over at CC in Riviera Blvd, from the new GM (George Toulas), to a VP/Programming...Not sure if those of you who read All Access noticed, but Brad Hardin (CC VP/Programming)'s newly appointed duties are for pretty much all of FL, except Miami, so they must be planning something in the big box across from Calder.

I say bring back David Ross, Al Chio, and Robert W. to 100.7 FM .. Sign Movin' On 103.5. Bring back Waxy @ 105.9 with "Classic Hits" . And put classic rock at 94.9 with "Zeta" Oh while were at it lets put "Radio Hit" back on 1260AM, hire Neal for WINZ. And sign Randy Rhodes from the Chapter 11 network. Am I asking too much... ;D

Could you imagine reading this on the front page of the Herald.

Aww... come on... i know you're laughing under that smerk (new word).
