MOVIN GOES NATIONAL

After a successful launch in Seattle the new MOVIN format will go national. Expect announcements in the coming weeks of MOVIN launches in markets like Philly, Chicago, Detroit and others. Clear Channel is the big believer after
looking at the Seattle results. Seattle team will be assisting the launch in multiple markets. Debuting number 2 18-34 in the launch month and Seattle market testing shows it now number one 18-34 and 18-44; pretty impressive by any standard. Kudo's to the guts of Mark Kaye to launch something new and the execution by the MOVIN team in Seattle. Nice to see a major national format launch out of our town. Whoopi will do mornings at most of these stations, Seattle still up in the air whether to go with Whoopi or a local morning show, maybe one in town right now. Keep listening!

Philly will launch tomorrow on TWO frequencies. Whoopi to do mornings. Still think that move makes some sense for MOVIN if they want to go after an older 25-54 female audience. Ichabod and Kent and Alan are winning in that demo. As suggested earlier on this board Whoopi would have no effect on Icahbod, but would really hurt K@A's old style show.

My bet is MOVIN goes after KBKS and KUBE. Whoopi is not quite as good a fit if that is the plan. Better to grab an up and coming talent like Jubel, maybe seduce FITZ from Entercom (unlikely and too expensive) or grab Curt and Corine from STAR, who live under the shadow of an aging Kent and Alan. The afternoon guy at WOLF ain't too bad a choice either for mornings. Lots of local options.

How is this successful? There are no jocks, there's nothing more than intial buzz. The Point had great buzz, and it fizzled.

It appears to me that the PD at movin (mamaknowsbest) and Fitz are big fans of themselves. How can you possibly say the format is a success with only one trend that shows promise? Additionally, I seriously doubt that stations in Detroit, Chicago, and Philly need the help of the "Seattle Team" to implement a new format! Wouldn't that be the work of the consultants...in fact I still seriously doubt anyone at Sandusky has much to do with the station other than implenting the exact plan from the consultants.

In other markets, radio-info is a great source of discussion about stations and personalities. Why is it that the Seattle board has been hijacked by clearly insecure people singing their OWN praises in the hopes of getting the attention of their peers?

To the staff at Movin': we are all absolutely thrilled that you had a pretty good LAST trend in the Spring book. However, in Seattle its a four book average that gets the attention of buyers. Don't jet off to Chicago to help those radio-beginners just yet...you may be needed here!

Really now. Is the Seattle team going to show them how give away beef jerkey and T-shrits too at remotes ???? Cuz ya know I hear the kids LOVE the beef jerky ! And women 25-44 are HUGE fans of the beef jerky as well. That's how you get'em to listen. Some swag + processed beef snacks = success ! Maybe the new stations will learn how to fly a banner over an event and hang banners on freeway overpasses too !!

One trend and we are all hot and bothered...Let's get some airtalent first, maybe a morning show - a major promotion that doesn't involve Beef Jerkey and let's talk after 4 books and see what's what. Heck I know jocks that have had one good trend - does that mean THEY ARE THE BOMB [EDIT] and they rule...NOPE...just means they had a nice trend......

The "Novelty Effect" always does well at first but then what happens. Jack came on strong and then went down like Tara Reid going down on a margarita at happy hour. K-Rock came on decent but again...same result. Every new station will get a kiss in the ratings at first becasue it's new - people by their nature will check it out simply becasue it's new BUT can you keep them and hold on to them with no air talent and beef jerkey promotions ???

The real test will be in the next months and with the Fall Book. I hope for Norman Rau, Marc Kaye, and Lisa that they do convert the listeners and do well but it's gonna take them taking it to the next level to be successful.

Beef Jerkey TIME !

[EDIT-profanity]

Why can't people just congratulate MOVIN on a nice launch without adding the "but one trend ain't a four book crap." They launched well, they did it first and other stations are following the lead. If they decline, then bash em, but for now let them enjoy success. Same with the Wolf. By the way, I am
not FITZ, if it helps I know that Yoyo is Fitz. While I want to remain anonymous, be assured of who I am not!

Maybe it's because they drink too much coffee. Or it's due to depression from all the rainy weather. ;D

OK - I congratulate Movin on a successful launch.

But not a lot has evolved on the station since May 1.

Take the product to the next level. Get the airstaff on board. Launch that market-killing promotion. And shake this town up!

At least know how to spell Beef JERKY. For Christ's sake, Oberto is in your backyard son! And who gave away Beef Jerky. If movin was giving away beef jerky, at least they were out doing something, which is more than a good number of stations in Seattle can say promotionally.

Thanks for the spell check maybe you can proof all the posts that have spelling or grammtical errors or get a job in the public skool system.
I pay not attention to processed meat snacks

Actually the Philadelphia version of "Movin'"(WJJZ/"Philly's 106.1") is not a clone of the "Movin'" format.

BTW Fresno, a market that already has two Rhythmics, two Rhythmic Oldies and a CHR/Pop, just picked up a Rhythmic Hot AC this past Friday(August 11th). Something tells us that this format will "Movin'" beyond the 'Fad format' stage.

Here's one time (so far) where I agree w/Rob. Today Movin' was throwing a dead carrier for over 15 minutes (from 240p-255p) Right after the "fix", their Jock in the Box was telling us all about "3 quick commercials" .
Not only was this a bad programming decison right then, overall it's just very repetitive and becoming stale real quick. Combine this with a what I'm guessing is about 90 total minutes of music before the whole thing starts over again, many times IN THE EXACT SAME ORDERE OF SONGS, is not going to cut it in a market like Seattle where the audience expects a lot more.

The plastic banner wraps that seemingly pop up around town are a nice start, but hardly the MAIN WAY to promote a station. On Friday, Movin' had the most banners of any station on the temp fence at Southcenter, many of which were placed over those of KUBE and The End's. This isn't a professional way nor a good impression for potential new listeners in my view. Marc and the crew ought to know better than "out plastering" another station's banners somehow = better numbers. It looks cheap and it is.

Friday night banner wars at Southcenter is another reason why if this is the only thing Movin' at 92.5, this station's success will die quick.

Movin's off to a good start, but it's got to get some meaningful talent, do serious promotion and get Movin' with advertisements in other media (not just on radio) to get to the next level of success. If they don't do it soon, the novelty of this station is going to fade real quick, along with those early upbeat numbers.

i'm in radio in seattle, and i have been trollin this board for quite some without ever posting. some people even speculated about my salary once - it was so off i had to laugh. now i am posting, because i am appalled at the gaul of the losers on this board assuming the identities of our other posters in this town. i know FOR A FACT that lisa adams has never ever even looked at this board, let alone post!! she thinks it's not worth a damn, and never reads it, nor would she ever post under false identity. you guys need to get your facts stright and stop trying to throw good people under the bus. concentrate on your own careers and stop the lying. this would be a great forum if certain idiots would just go away.
