MOVIN has talent!

Monti is TERRIFIC. Finally a woman on the air that doesn't sound like a "DJ."
A real woman with real talent and comments that appeal to women. Sandusky hit a home run with this find. Night mix is very good as well. The new PD will do mid-days. Only slip up so far is mornings and that is because Sandusky won't give the GM the dollars to get it done, I know it is frustrating for everyone involved. There are some top line talent that belong in Seattle to match Monti in the afternoon. We don't need a Kent and Alan rehash in the morning or god forbid Jackie and Bender (better known as kent and alan light) T-Man does the talk, let's bring in a Monti type talent that plays music is in the target audience. Let's hope Sandusky has the guts to finish the job and finish off KBKS and KUBE. By the way. Big rumors that JACK may be flipping soon back to Modern Rock. It is common knowledge that KIRO will soon simulcast on KNDD and when that happens JACK goes to Free-FM Alternative Talk or Modern ROCK. Things are truly changing in Seattle.

Yeah, you sure hit the nail on the head. Just like how you "predicted" last month how the "steller" talent won't be here until next year.

4. Look for steller air-talent after the first of the year

4. Air-talent: the search is narrowed and get ready after the first of the year.

Keep those predictions coming!

Mamma, we are usually on the same page, but not on this one. I don't hear it. Monti is definitely not a DJ, but is being a DJ a bad thing? She sounds like an intern, but maybe that is the point. MOVIN is trying to play more music and sound more like it's audience, less refined?

I do agree that an experienced morning show would help. I am not so sure a beginner talent is what is needed. But I do get the concept. Still think MOVIN and the WOLF are the stations to watch. The game is just beginning.
COngratulations on the move to Portland. Great city, I almost worked there once a few years back. Have lots of friends there too.

Hey cut Momma some slack! The poor gal hasn't been able to get out of her cubical in Factoria to hand out poor quality tee shirts and beef jerky with all the bad weather.. But the next best thing?? Why not get on Radio Info and start posting how great "movin" is?! That will have some real ratings impact!!

Based on the amount of former "Mix" employees having posted on this board, I'm beginning to think posting here is part of the job description for anyone who works for 92.5. ;D

Mamma...this one is a stretch even for you! Monti is probably a wonderful person, but she has no business doing PM Drive in market 14. She probably wouldn't even be hired to do weekends at KPLZ. Ask her who her agent is or how long of a contract King Marc gave her....I doubt she will have a response. Sandusky will never pay for talent...period. Marc Kaye's strategy is to run his stations as lean as possible until he retires in a few more months. Just pack up your office and move to Portland and please stop littering this board with superlatives about the Factoria Radio Supercenter.

LOL! Yeah, she doesn't sound like a "DJ" because she has no experience! What a joke! But then again....have you ever heard the person on the air from noon to 12:30....her whiny voice and lack of content is just as bad. What a waste of a perfectly good signal!

Monti....that wasn't very nice! But I'm in your corner! Welcome to Seattle....it's a great city and you are going to love the people. My point is that it would behoove the management at the Factoria Radio Supercenter to do a better job of attracting and keeping major market talent for their major market operation. I wish you nothing but the best!

very cool monti. i wish i had seen your post before it was edited. since my post was deleted on this thread earlier it brings up a good point. since jocks can't say what they want on-air un-edited, why can't they say what they want off-air (like on this board)...freedom of speech is a basic right so why can't this board let us talk about what we want?!

The freedom of speech right that you mention concerns the government. Not a privately held message board. I'm a member of plenty of message board. When you create a username, you agree to a certain terms of service to get that username. That is what's going on here. Nothing more nothing less.

(I've re-read what I just wrote and hope it doesn't come across as disrespectful.)

I read what "monti" posted before it was deleted. It wasn't really that vulgar, or even funny for that matter. You didn't miss much; although it is cool that she posted a response (if it really was her).

I wonder why more posters on this board don't use their actual identities? It would certainly lend more credibility to their posts!

I read it too and I actually thought it was mildly amusing. She was implying that the hair follicles in my pubic region may be a bit gray in color. The implication, I assume, is that I am too old to "get her". I agree that it was nice to see a response....of course, it may or may not actually be her. Regardless, it certainly wasn't vulgar.

Yeah, and obliterate all candor from people who work for the various targets posted here.

I'm hearing a lot of those "Intern" types on the air these days. Hire them because we don't want a DJ mentality. That crap has been going on for decades. Usually when you hear NON-DJ type's they're not paying much. No matter how much you put perfume on a turd, it's still a turd. Kinda like the NORE MUSIC MORNING SHOW. Riiiiigt. :D

Now Now Monti...don't get your panties in a wad. You're not the only female with marginal talent on the air. Chin up girl and pass some of those chocolate chip cookies.... ;)

Guess everyone has their "things started to change when..." reflection on stuff like this. I started hating the changes of 1980's ... my read was consultants were running out ways to be "innovative" and started attacking all the things I liked about radio. Suddenly ... their billion dollar advice was "jingles are NOT cool..." "people don't want jocks to say anything except about the music" ... "people don't want music stations to reflect anything but the occasional nod to promotions" ... "whoops occasional nod is too little ... make ALL your patter about the imaging and the promotions" and on and on. In recent years, adding people who sound like they walked out of high school, and imaging shows with "buckyboy the producer" seems to be simply copying what everyone else had done.

It's all change ... but I sure liked it better when I could a station that had talent that I wanted to aspire to be like ... or elements like jingles that made me go "ohhhhh YEAHHHHH" before the first beat of a record even fired up. But since all those scads of Mike McVay-like consultants have reminded me all that stuff isn't cool, guess it's also painfully obvious to understand why I never got to date very much in high school either!!!

Finally a thread that's going somewhere!

It's true about the direction radio has taken, getting away from proven methods to try something new in this day and age. Young, inexperienced "jocks" are sympton of that kind of thinking.
