Movin Says Move On

The richest man in Syracuse is now one of the area's newest unemployed. Caplan was canned, not bought out, but just fired. Skip Clark is the new PD.

His contract had a buyout clause, but they ate it. I think it was up in the summer.

Listen...the buyout might not have been much, but when you only book $1,200 in December, I'm guessing it's out of reach to go that route.

My sincerest condolences to Nick. I think the real winner here is Robert DeNiro who, as we all know, has had a standing multi-million dollar offer on one of Nick's extensive real-estate holdings in New York City. Now Bobby will have a shot at finally getting into the home of his dreams.

Heh.

Your friend forever,
Biggus

You guys are so wrong!
Skip Clarke is not the PD!
Movin did NOT bill 1200 in December!

Get your stories straight before you post!

Nooo. Skip is the new PD.

And, if I were in the sales department, I'd be scared. From what I heard, two or three of their top local clients walked when the promotions person and the first couple of salespeople were axed.

Has the owner started paying people in shares of low-powered TV stations and Disney Radio gear yet or do they still get money?

Your WRONG AGAIN!
I have friends that work there (Including Skip). Skip is not the PD. And they did not lose any clients. Actually the promotion person your talking about was originally hired in traffice/billing. She couldnt do the job. So they replaced her with someone from citadel and moved her into sales/promotions on a part-time basis. But she wanted full-time. She had conflict with nick too. ANd they have 2 original Sales people from Day 1.
Get you story straight! Dont pretend that you know radio info....when you dont.
One thing that we all know....IS there ratings are AWESOME!

No he is not. As we reported earlier today, management at Movin has confirmed station manager Sam Furco is the interim PD. He tells us the main focus right now is on getting a new morning person. After that's done, they'll work on naming a new PD.

I suppose if you read between the lines, that might mean Skip could be in the running (or not -- we didn't ask), but they want to see who they hire for mornings before they decide who will get PD.

Attention RADIOJAM:
Having a 2.0 share and not even making it into the top 10 overall, after spending a lot of money on advertising and staff for over a year, is a lot of things."Awesome" is not one of them.

...and they have part-timers doing mornings??!? WOW.

I mean yeah, it sucks if you hate getting up in the morning, but you have to have KNOWN personalities on the air in morning drive. Given Skip's longevity in the market, he should be doing mornings for now. Maybe even permanently (and hire someone else to do middays). That's the shift where you're doing the most talking, and thus, you need an experienced personality. Let the part-timers do the middays, when there's less need for ad-libbed talk (and less chance of sounding awkward or stupid or enraging clients, even if unintentionally).

On a side note, is Movin's Photoshop expert on vacation this week? Even though they took Nick's name off the morning show description, his picture with Skip and Sunny is still plastered across the top of the page.

Either way, I think Movin's a good station and it would be a shame to see it go. I also hate to see people getting fired, but if Nick was as much of a thorn in people's sides as I've heard (here and elsewhere), hopefully this will benefit the station in the long run. Hopefully this will bring back some of the clients and listeners who were supposedly offended and turned away by Nick's on-air demeanor.

Sam Furco couldn't program a station with two hands and a flashlight. Skip's doing the PD work. Sam has the title. When it shakes out, Skip will be named the PD.

The website was maintained by the promotions person who was let go. Why? Because they didn't want to pay health benefits or salary to on anyone that wasn't on air. Now, the jocks, Sam and the station manager are salary and all of the other grunts on staff are hourly.

Oh, and the promotions chick isn't the only one to have problems with Nick. He was becoming a legal liability for the station.
