Movin' Up Or Out

Do the Movin' stations have a chance in Syracuse, with those rimshot signals and the competition they face? What's the prognosis for these stations and what, if any, impact will a former Utica PD have to do to make an impact in the market?

If my history's right, that former Utica PD is also a former Syracuse PD... or at least a former Syracuse jock who's been a jock and PD in a handful of other markets. I only wonder if he's too old for the demo or if he can still be "hip" with the audience.

As for the signals... anywhere I've listened, I haven't had a problem.

I think the music lineup is definitely unique. A little repetitive at times, but it's nice to hear a mix of newer songs, with a mix of older Top 40 songs nobody else is playing. Still waiting to see who else they hire for talent though... this is one station that could very well do just fine with music and music alone. People don't buy MP3 players so they can listen to voicetracks, do they? I don't think complete judgement can be made until a full air staff is in place.

It sounds to me like *they* are not even sure of their future. I mean -- they still don't have any commercials which I can't believe. They just keep playing the same songs over and over and over. Do they really need to have a sweeper after every single song? Come on! Talk about annoying. Hopefully they'll make some changes soon and get some air talent.

What station are you listening to? I hear spots. I hear fuccillo spots and others. its public knowledge that they hired Nick Caplan to do Mornings. And they are interveiwing for other announcers (I interviewed). Starting a BRAND NEW station takes more time and more work than just flipping a format. All I know is every female i run into says they love the station. and it seems that 93Q and Sunny have made some programming adjustments because of them. I beleive they will do very very well....both ratings and $$$$$$$.
As far as sweeper....they need to run them...DUH! they need to pound in the listeners heads...who they are.

Okay but what about all the repetition? What so-called changes have Sunny and 93Q made because of Movin? (This should be good)
