Does anyone see a hole for the Movin' format in Portland? It would seem to me that between Q and Coast, the female skewing rhythmic thing is tied up... But what would a station (for example) like RED have to lose?
The musical core of the "Movin'" approach is mid 90's. During that period Portland didn't have a viable Top 40 station (no disrespect to R96, but the signal was limited). So the music never really played in the market, thus having less familiarity to (and less passion from) the target audience.
Dollars - as in what it would cost to research and market the product, versus ROI. It would take a monster signal, with a considerable budget, and right now all of the monster signals appear to be engaged with formats that offer a far lesser degree of risk vs. return.
Personally I'd like to see this format grow and succeed; I just don't think that markets like Portland have the fan base necessary to achieve at a level that would be acceptable to the players involved.
The other side of the coin is that Rhythmic AC is the "format of the week" right now, so any group feeling some desperation may jump on the bandwagon. If desperation is the basis it would be a very, very bad "Move" !

What ever happened to the "Jack" craze? Has that run it's course already? I can only think of 2 here in New England...Mike in Boston & MP103 in Burlington. Any others?
