Ha ha - i was just thinkin along those lines! But if I need music news read to me every break, I'm all about movin'!

Just like the promos they've been running for the past few months...

Bland...

Movin' 97.5 is a ship caught in the doldrums and will always be with the gross mismanagement that goes on over there. Some aspects of the station's lack of success are beyond their control, but this is a niche format that will not likely even find it's niche with the way it is being run presently.

1) The signal: This is an aspect somewhat out of their control, nevertheless it's a weak signal that covers half of the valley with relative clarity. Half the coverage means half the perspective listening audience for a relatively unpopular format is out of reach.

2) The play list: oof! A relatively "safe" and uninspired selection with a fairly heavy repetitive value makes the station fairly unpalatable to the long-term listener. It seems more of a minimal play list on shuffle than it does one where much thought has been given.

3) The imaging: Wow! Not "Wow!" in a good way either. HORRIBLE, consultant written drivel that is exceptionally generic and, if anything, encourages you to tune away. I hear a lot of stations with obvious consultant written liners, and many of them are along the lines of "the station that picks you up and makes you feel good!" or "Forget about your problems...." Hey, thanks for reminding the listener of their problems. Is there not ONE creative person out there that can actually write even half-ass liners anymore?

4) The "Personalities": I believe enough people have written about the lack of on-air personalities on Movin'. The ones that are on the air sound (to quote someone from earlier in this thread) like they belong at Bobby McGees in 1996. Now, for quite a while I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's been quite a long time now, it doesn't take that long to find jocks that don't sound like 80s pukers and are willing to work cheap... I'd do it, but you can't afford me :) .

Seriously though, I actually believe that it's a format that could find a niche and be somewhat successful, but they are shooting a lot of bullets into their own feet. Will it ever be a real big station? Nah, but it could at least beat FREE-FM.

Yep. The positioning statements and jocks on movin' are bland and boring. But you know what? Bland and boring works when you're trying to get female listeners. Seriously. How else can you explain the success of KEZ? Or how about The Peak....where their biggest on-air personality is their traffic reporter.
