movin1027.com is registered... but does it mean anything?

I was bored and decided to type "movin1027.com" into IE and it took me to a GoDaddy domain parking page... which means someone owns the domain and is saving it. So I immediately did a domain whois to see who owns it... and the data comes out as...

Registrant:
MP4 LTD
7251 W. Lake Mead Blvd
Suite 300
Las Vegas, Nevada 89128
United States

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: MOVIN1027.COM
Created on: 09-Oct-06
Expires on: 09-Oct-07

It doesn't really say too much... and it is easy to change your domain whois info (if CBS or another company who owns a 102.7 is keeping this low), but I thought it was an interesting find. Maybe I'm just eating into the hype too much :p

It could be someone grabbing a domain on speculation hoping to sell it for more than the cost of registering it.

Seems likely to me. The address belongs to a lawyer/accountant.

When WCBS changed its moniker fom Newsradio 88 to 880, someone registered newsradio880.com
WCBS registered wcbs880.com -- It's a roll of the dice, I guess.

Nope- looks like Star 102.7 in Vegas will bite the dust.

I seriously doubt that's going to happen. Clear Channel already flipped KQOL in Las Vegas to a Movin'-type format as "93.1 The Party" with Whoopi in the mornings.

this is nothing more than a Cybersquatter. A few Years ago Emmis did this to CC. They Registered Power1051.com about 2 weeks before WWPR launched. CC Tried to Sue Emmis for the Domain but lost, Because Emmis Does use the "Power" monkier for it's then 2 Hip Hop Stations(Power 92.3,Power 106) and for an extreme short time Had the Slogan "The Power of Hip-Hop" Tied to Hot97.

EDIT: OK the Power105.1.com Site Still shows Emmis' Hip Hop "Hot" Stations with the Slogan "The Power of Hip Hop" and Still links to a Station they no longer own.

Exactly that is someone looking to cash in but what he does not understand is that CBS does not play that. They will sue if they desire the domain. Just ask the guys who registered Dan Rather.com and Opie and Anthony.com before they got it back for them. Problem is that sicne they have not signed on Movin 102,7 so its not a cbs property that they would be trying to protect, they may not have any recourse, but to most people just a letter on an attorney's letterhead is enough to get them in line.

along with that too, the same person registered movin1035.com as well... someone's wasting their time and effort in hopes that someone flips. On a positive note, at least Go Daddy's got a nice special of $2/mo instead of their typical 8.95 crap. Saving money while wasting effort, counterproductive if you ask me lol.
