Anyone know what's going on in Athens these days? What's up at WRFC now? It's been a long while since my early days doing overnights there....

Last I heard, WRFC is a sports-talker called "The Ref." I think they're mainly on the bird from ESPN but they have some local shows and carry lots of UGA sports...mainly football and baseball. Before that I think they were news-talk, at least in the last few years.

Yeah, we started moving away from music back when 102 come online. I got to run lots of Braves games then; I'd already been board-opping lots of GA. I remember there was first political talk through the day and then sports kept adding in at night. By the time all music was dropped I was working on the fm we moved in, WPUP. Management wouldn't buy any automation equipment for WRFC. So I had to schedule long songs at the top of each hour evenings and overnight on 'pup and run into 'rfc to hit the id. And then at 2 am 'rfc switched networks, so I had to run in, hit the id and a psa, run downstairs to engineering, run back upstairs to 'rfc to pull up the new network. And then get back into 'pup before the song ended.

That got real fun when management got even cheaper and demanded that I do it with the lights turned off in that old GWTW feeling mansion on Milledge avenue. God, that sounds like a joke, but it isn't.
