MP3 player for cheap STLing

Does anyone know of a good, cheap mp3 player like winamp that will restart automatically if it hits a glitch? I've got a no-money app that I need to STL audio from a studio to a backup and need a player that will keep on going even if there's a net loss for a while (and of course connectivity comes back).

Thanks!

;D

Amazing Luck with Digital Jukebox and their STL Ware. Needs a computer.

Exstreamer 100. Harris branded Masterlink IP. Barix sells it through BGS.

Ethernet or uSB fed. Will continue to play USB if loss of ethernet.

wav, mms, etc. Check it out at barix.com

Cool toy.

I'm testing out a couple of Barix boxes. The instreamer and exstreamer. I had a guy at the studio pull the power on the Instreamer and plug it back in to see if it'd pick back up. It did. I did the same at the transmitter, and it picked the feed back up. It's been on the air two days with no problem, it sat in the rack for a week before I put it on the air. With the exception of tweaking it to get a good, relaible, efficient stream going, it's been great.

KYSCOTT,

What sort of diagnostics does the exstreamer have to measure packet loss, late packets, etc?

Is this information remotely accessible? If so, how does remote access work (web page?)?

Is there error concealment when you lose a packet?

Just trying to get some idea how these econo units compare to the other streaming solutions I have experrience with (Telos and APT).

Thanks

There is no real time information that I can find. You can make adjustments on how the exstreamer reacts when it loses a packet. I have it skipping ahead to the next packet. The only thing I don't like about it is you can't adjust the buffer...at least not that I can find.

To get into the exstreamer and instreamer, I put the ip addresses of the boxes in internet explorer and I have them password protected.

Barix has a BIG advantage!

A BIG advantage to the Barix Exstreamer 100 is that when you install the streaming client firmware, it can select between three different addresses to pick up a stream. You can (for example) use an Instreamer for a main connection and the address you post on your web page for streaming as a back-up source. If #1 goes away it switches to #2 and so on...

BUT!

Here's where it gets REALLY cool. The third position defaults to an m3u playlist file. If you create one of these on a USB drive and plug it into the USB port on the front of the Exstreamer, it will automatically play that audio if it loses the other stream(s). Actually, you can slao simply put MP3 (or Win Media) files in the drive's root directory and it will also play them-in order or randomly, depending on how you have the Exstreamer set up. This is a GREAT way to stay on the air! With a large drive (and pen drives are available as large as 8 gB-powered drives as large at 1 Tb!), you could go for months this way if necessary.

That is cool. I had NO IDEA it would do that. You'd never figure that out from the owner's manual....

Yeah I saw that USB playback feature and was blown away, I'll probably be buying a Barix with the S/PDIF output soon to feed my internet station to the cable system soon. If you have a D/A converter (I buy old Sonic Solutions ones off ebay) you can plug the S/PDIF output of the Barix into one of these and get XLR outs! :)
