MP3 & Satellite

Does either Sirius or XM have a receiver that can hold MP3s or some other format? I would like to find a unit I could use to listen to both Satellite and MP3s without having to replace the head unit.

I would give up the up therwise better programming on Sirius to have MP3s and XCountry.

There are XM MP3 units forthcoming from Samsung and Dell.

The RIAA has been threatening lawsuits, which has slowed down their introduction, but at some point there will be XM+MP3 players and an XM branded Napster service that goes with them where you can mark songs that you hear and have the unit download them when you dock the player.

Here's what the Dell looks like.
______________

I think the MyFi can do something like that. They're on sale at the XM store for only $149.99 compared to the $249

RIAA can forget about it. 1. People can record to MP3 anyway via hooking the reciever up to the computer and 2. They can record onto tape via the modulater.

Thanks for the link, it had a link to this Sirius unit that is supposed to strat shipping this week.

I just wanted to rip songs from my CDs and load them on the receiver, not to mention podcasts.

The primary difference between that unit and any of the XM2go units is the Sirius can only record while docked.
______________

Not abig deal for what I am looking for. Portable reception isn't a big deal either...kind a "nice to have" but I am really looking for something I can upload my own tunes to for those times when I can't find something I want to hear on the broadcast stations or maybe sitting in a signal compromised position. Artist seek would be another really "nice to have" that is not part of my current receiver.

TAO is the only 2Go unit I saw but I didn't find any mention MP3s.

There's three and they're similar on the inside, the only difference is the case: Delphi MyFi, Giant Tao, Pioneer Airware. None offer MP3.

The Samsung and Dell MP3/XM units were due to come out for the holidays, but the RIAA is making noise about licensing fees from what I've been able to determine. They're now supposed to hit first quarter '06, which means they miss this Christmas.
______________

One other note on the S50...

One other note on the Sirius S50 - It can only receive satellite signals when docked. (Previously I said it can only record) When it's undocked, it can only play recorded content (either MP3 or stored Sirius broadcasts).
______________

Your better off with the Mi-Fi. It can do both. But it's not mp3.
