MP3 Uploads - Setting Standards?

L

I think it's phenomenal the work that has been done here to encode, upload, and distribute unscoped airchecks via MP3.

However, between here and those still using WinMX there has yet to be some standard for file identification and bitrate? Are these necessary? Probably not. But is there a desire for it?

We're all using variations on the same theme it seems.

For example, I've just uploaded the following three airchecks for download at http://radio-info.com/mp3/

http://radio-info.com/mp3/104.9 WSJO Egg Harbor 7-21-05 650pm - 735pm (Hot AC - SoJo 104.9) 45min.mp3

http://radio-info.com/mp3/102.1 WIOQ Philadelphia 7-21-05 738pm - 823pm (CHR - Q102) 45min.mp3

http://radio-info.com/mp3/94.5 WPST Trenton 8-9-05 650pm - 802pm (CHR - 94-5 PST) 72min.mp3

EDIT - Obviously R-I's system breaks the links due to the spaces.

All are in 128kbps and 22050 sampling rate.

Have I gone too far in terms of detail? Are there any other details that should be listed like jock names? Is there a better way to organize the data?

I'm also working on a way to allow you all to upload directly to the server to prevent the download expirations created by YouSendIt and the like.
______________

Lance,

Many thanks for the uploads! I think that if one is able to list jock names, that would come in handy. You can't always depend on station websites for being 100% accurate when it comes to jocks.

Other than that, great work!

I agree with Neal. I always like to know who the jock is, or if it's v/t or just automated.

I started this whole Aircheck of the Week idea simply as a fun idea, and everyone has truly embraced it! It would be even better if Lance gave us room on the radio-info server so even more people could download! Way to go Lance!
______________

Re: MP3 Uploads - Radio-info server idea

Guys, here is what I think.
Somehow when/if we can upload to RI's server, there should be edit boxes for
Stations Frequency
Call Letters
Station Moniker or Slogan
City of Licence, State
Date
Time
DJ
Special notes

Without at least a certain amount of fields filled out, one would not be aloud to post as it would be missing information.
I figgure the more information people have, the easier it would be for them to figgure out if this is something they'd like to download.
