Mr. Dressup will not be returning to CBC in the fall...

Sigh...the last of a great group of Canadian kids shows I grew up with. Other notables:The Friendly Giant (CBC)The Hilarious House of Frightenstein (CHCH)The Uncle Bobby Show (CFTO)

Yes it was -- went out of production in 1977, but continued in reruns until the mid-1980s. I think the CBC carried this show in the mid- to late-1970s.A DVD set featuring the best episodes came out earlier this year.

Actually I guess "Frightenstein" does live on (in Canada anyway), on CHUM-owned channel "Drive In Classics". Hmmm, wonder where I can get a grey-market Canadian DBS receiver (and would it work in Florida)?

ON-TOPIC: I watched episodes of Mr. Dressup when my Canadian dish was hooked up, and it was definitely a wonderful show. Too bad I didn't live in Canada or some border city to enjoy it when I was a kid. It's even worse that the show wasn't distributed widely south of the border.OFF-TOPIC: to ''Obtuse1", I'm selling my Canadian DBS system. Interested?

No offence to my Canadian brethern...but as nice of a person as Mr. Coombs was, the title "Mr. Dressup" still gives me the willies.
