Mr. KABC Resurfaces

According to Don Barrett's Los Angeles Radio People website Marc Germain the former Mr. KABC and Mr. KFI will be part of a totally revamped line-up at KTLK which is going live from 3 am to 7pm...

So, what is the rest of the schedule and does this mean AA will only be on at night via tape delay? or not at all? Mr. KTLK to be part of a local continuation of "progressive talk" or is this the end of that format?

Actually a general live local all day talk format would not be a bad idea, since KFI and KABC are stuck with their syndicated/network shows

The new KTLK line-up beginning Monday will be:

Stephanie Miller live 6 a m - 9 a.m.

Thom Hartmann, live 9 a.m. - Noon

Randi Rhodes live noon – 3 p.m. (from Air America still?)

Marc "Mr K" Germain live 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. (that's what they'll be calling him initially)

Ed Schultz - 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Rachel Maddow (10 p.m. - midnight) (AA???)

Alan Colmes (midnight – 3 a.m.)

Bill Press live 3 a.m. – 6 a.m.

Mr K will be much less political than what AA aired

The rest of those hosts can definitely be considered "progressive"

LARadio.com is certainly off-the-mark on this one. "Sheds the negative Air America stigma"? How can that be as the negative Air America continues to be a part of K-Talk's line-up.

I don't see this as the right shift for Mark Germain.

I thought the idea was to get away from AA and go mostly local...
So how is this format THAT different from what they are doing today. And where is the LOCAL content besides Marc Germain??? All they seem to have done is rearrange the AA and Jones hosts a little and add Bill Press. XM Radio did the same thing recently (except without Press and Miller)

Or perhaps Cheap Channel is trying out Germain as a prelude to a "live and local" idea coming soon, Germain being the guinea pig.

The only AAR shows lost appear to be The Young Turks and "Politically Direct", both of which air in overnights.

Also interesting to note that Harrison on the Edge is missing from the schedule.

And how is that local? Just one show?

No, despite what the CC AEs will tell you, Stephanie Miller is not a local show.

Why the question marks? Hartmann, Rhodes, and Maddow are all Air America shows. That means that AAR will continue to supply eight hours of programming on weekdays.

Because LARadio.com reported today "KTLK gets a complete make-over and sheds the negative Air America stigma" which simply is not true. You can see it on his site until about 7 AM PST on Friday 3/2.
