"Mr. KFI/KABC" Subs As "Mr. KGO"

Via All Access:

Yes, the guy filling in for Dr. BILL WATTENBURG this weekend at CITADEL Talk KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO as "MR. KGO" was indeed MARC GERMAIN, the former "MR. KFI" at KFI-A and "MR. KABC" at KABC-A/LOS ANGELES.

What? Nobody local would answer the call to fill in?

Sidebar: The last person to use the "Mr. KGO" moniker during his time at the news/talk king was ... the one and only St. Bernard Ward.

My foot-inside-the-front-door info is that Citadel is in such financial straits that KGO must cut the talent expenses to the bone, meaning that there will likely be no permanent hosts for either of the vacated slots. In addition, they don't want to give the impression that any fill-in host will get a permanent slot and thus make any waves about KGO's "intent" to hire them, so they're not scheduling them more than a week at a time with no info about whether they'll be on in the future.

Thus, Kevin Radich was likely put in place because he's already an employee so the added cost is minimal, and Mister KGO was picked because he's a freelancer available at a moment's notice and he sill has a "cordial" relationship with ABC.

If I were betting about any sort of permanent replacement I'd say now that Radich would likely get it due to his existing employment.

Well there we have it.

Now look for Fonseca to fill in now & then. He's already a Citadel employee due to weekends at KHOP, and he loves doing phones...
