Mr. Towel Head -Fat Boy Attacks Mr. Mandigo

Howie Carr the one who throws ad hominem attacks like Dice Kay throws pitches is attempting to throw a curve ball in MSNBC's move to make Mike Barnicle the successor to Don Imus's morning show.

Several years ago Barnicle referred former Sec. Defense Bill Cohen's wife, the beautiful Janet Langhart, as Mandigo. Guess that is a book or a movie about a beautiful Black woman. For that Carr has run to MSNBC to try to derail Barnicle.

Seems that hardly reaches the critical zone of Imus's racial insults over a period of 20 years and coming from an individual who himself has made a career of ad hominem attacks on people's looks or facial characteristics - "Towel Head" and "Fat Boy" comes to mind one asks if Carr can spell H-y-p-o-c-r-i-s-y. Carr hates to see anyone else's succeed and will do whatever he can to destroy that person. Perhaps, he should spend more time on shoring up his own failing career and stop worrying about the success of others. Let the free market determine who will succeed or fail not Howie Carr or the company for which he works that allows his personal attacks to continue and those of its other employees - Dennis and Callahan's "Metco Gorrilla". Clean-up your own house before you criticize someone elses.

Mandingo not mandigo. "Mandingo is a 1975 film, based on the book Mandingo by Kyle Onstott, about an African slave in the 1840s United States that is trained as a prize fighter by its owner. The owner is unaware that his neglected wife is having an affair with his best fighter, which leads to the film's tragic conclusion. The film is controversial for its depictions of racism, nudity, incest, sadism, and infanticide." Now you know.

Carr's own failing career includes a national bestseller and a long running radio show in addition to his long
running newspaper column. As for failing careers, we'll see what kind of ratings Barnicle gets, but at last glance WRKO even with mis-steps like Finneran still leads WTKKK in the ratings. Even Finneran would probably get
higher ratings than Barnicle will get in that morning slot. Come to think of it AAR Boston at its nadir
beats the ratings Barnicle will probably get.

Oh I looked up Mandigo--I think it means "a fired radio producer who constantly attacks the shows on his
former station as a kind of a grudge". Mandigo. yeah, that's the word :)
Either that, or it's a place that breeds golden retrievers:

(yahoo/wikipedia search is your friend...)

The Boston Globe-Democrat (credit: M. Graham) reports on Barnicle's apology:

Howie Carr has not had to resign his post from the Herald due to plagiarism or making things up. The foreward
of "The Brothers Bulger" states that everything in the book is true; nothing is made up. Had Barnicle written
a book, "The Very Ethical, Polite, and Not At All Murderous Bulger Brothers", it might have had lots of
imagined stuff. Best Fiction: The Boston Globe-Democrat.

Grow up. That producer had nothing to do with causing the earlier death of Howie Carr's predecessor Jerry Williams. And how can one have a grudge with the owners of a station that did not exist when the producer worked for the station with the same call letters.

The problem is Howie Carr's vengeful behavior.

ITS owner??? You refer to a human being as IT??? Surely that MUST be a typo. If you wrote IT intentionally, you have put yourself in the same camp that Imus put himself in.

Who cares about Carr? Barnicle's the problem-- he can't cut it for an hour much less 4.

How long with the Barnicle envy continue?

What a sad bunch. Why don't you talk about the quality of the shows he's been putting on? How about the great guests that are always relevant to the topic of the day?

Howie's book has many errors in it. He has tried to dog Barnicle forever, but it has no effect. From MSNBC, The Today Show, WTKK, Imus, McNeil-Lehrer, etc., the guy has always been a go to guy. What's Howie got--channel 56?

When's the last time someone asked you "Did you read Howie today?"
It doesn't happen. The guy has some talent, but he's a minor leaguer.

I prefer to think of it as The New York Times Boston Edition.

Envy? If he's so great why'd they cut him to 1 hour?

Barnicle wanted to cut back. If you listened to the show you'd have known that. He talked about it quite a bit. The station did it to accomadate him, not the other way around.

Carr and Barnicle are two peas in a pod, cut from the same cloth, a unique blend of polarized sameness.

Both fail to add to the community, they fail to reach a broad cross section of people - catering to their
respective niches which, amazingly, appear to be two separate (yet equally challenged, mentally) audiences.

With the fragmentation of radio those hosts that can find their own little flock of sheep become valuable, especially to the
small-minded tunnel vision crews of Entercom and Greater Media. Not that Clear Channel is any better,
it's just that Clear Channel and CBS seem to do a better job of being bold about their greed.

Carr and Barnicle should just combine forces and have a hate fest every day.

Carr and Tommy Finneran just wouldn't work because they are both the same flavor (the same end of the same stick, with doggy stuff on it), Barnicle and Carr have, as stated, the same flaws - their sameness polarized, different ends of the same stick, and that is the bond that binds them for all eternity. Just put 'em on together and let them implode and be done with it.
