MRS Ventures stations in Pine Bluff

What is the current status of the MRS stations in Pine Bluff.
The FCC website has never been updated to indicate that they are dark.
Are they still off air?

My understanding is that KCLA 1400 is on the air, simulcasting KASR in Conway under some type of LMA agreement. I have not heard this for myself.

There is no telling. I know that when the state tournament rolled around, KCLA held broadcast rights to Watson Chapel, so if he is on the air, he may be using a Barix Box or something of that nature to feed separate programming to Pine Bluff.

I will know next week when I go to the Sugar Bowl.

KCLA 1400 has been on the air since late November 100% bird-fed with Sporting News Radio. I checked for top of hour IDS while passing through PB or visiting my parents there and none were heard.

KZYP 99.3, KOTN 1490, and KPBQ 101.3 are still dead as a doornail. Although I personally would hate losing 101.3 as a "DX" frequency, the demise of the old Delta Radio Network cluster by MRS is one of the largest broadcasting SNFAU's in Arkansas history (along with letting KLRA 1010 go silent, and allowing KAAY in the hands of the gospel-huxters 24/7).

KCLA has a wikipedia page. I think it was an "in-house" job IMHO.

I have a very strong feeling that Andy Hodges is once again attempting sports talk in Pine Bluff. The last, short lived format on KZYP 99.3 before it went silent a few years ago was drum roll....sports talk.

A sad shame what has happened to Deane's former stations. Especially KOTN.

But, KOTN even it could get back on the air would have to move its transmitter to west Pine Bluff to reach the White Hall and Watson Chapel suburbs for reliable nighttime coverage. I can remember trying to hear KOTN years ago in Pine Bluff and losing the signal in the Dollarway area since its transmitter was on 920 Commerce road near the present-day Pines Mall. It would require a broadcaster to start over and in this day and age, graveyard AM frequencies are not that desirable. Perhaps a change to 1270 but that is the old frequency of KADL/KPBA and that carries some baggage for those remember those stations. 1590 (ex KYDE) is currently in use by KBJT Fordyce which moved from 250w daytime on 1570.

Perhaps getting 101.3 back on the air with a call-change to KOTN-FM would be a good start and best solution for a Pine Bluff-area broadcaster.
