MSG Question

I Mentioned on a previous board on how USA/MSG worked?

What about the MSG network itself ?

What was MSG like before it became a part of HBO in 1972

Does it have an actual channel ?

Or does it share time with other channels in this case FSN NEW YORK ?

How long was the WWE on MSG because I know they stopped airing cards

in 1992?

And will the Mets leave MSG to start their own network ?

MSG is its own channel that runs 24/7.

Take a look at its website <a href=http://www.msgnetwork.com/>here</a>.<P ID="signature">______________

MSG does have it's own channel and programming, separate from FSN. Right now they share the Mets cable telecasts with FSN (WPIX also provides coverage). Actually, the only reason MSG started showing Mets games in the first place is because the Yankees left MSG about 3 years ago when they started the YES Network, so MSG had to fill a huge summertime sports hole. In order to keep MSG afloat and to appease cable operators they split the Mets cable telecasts with FSN - much to the disdain of some fans who had to pay extra to receive both networks.

MSG also shows most of the Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty games. Next year the Mets are expected to start their own cable network similar to what the Yankees did with YES. So the Mets will not be on MSG after this season. I'm really wondering what programming the new Mets network will have outside of live Mets games. The Mets don't have anything close to the following or history that the Yankees do and the YES network is almost unbearable to watch outside of Yankees telecasts.

Outside of the Yankees, YES also carries an occasional Columbus Clippers game (AAA-International League affiliate) and a Staten Island Yankees game or two. They've carried New Jersey Nets basketball as well? By the way, who will be carrying the New Jersey Devils this season?

MSG like many other regional sports affilates were originally on the air during the nighttime hours. Prime Sportschannel provided the RSN's programming to fill the lineup. MSG carried Prime programming from 2am to 7pm weekdays and 2am to 12pm weekends. I remebrer Sportsouth airing Prime from 2am to 5pm and PASS doing the same. HTS aired it from 12pm to 4pm (sometimes 5pm) and 12am to 8am. (when HTS had no Orioles, Bullets or Capitals game)
