MSI CP-803 TECH QUESTION

I have just finishing upgrading/improving the cp-803 clipper, one of the many stacks of old gear to repair/upgrade.

The main question is,the clipper has a dynamic bias, this comes from IC6B and associated components.
In effect this circuit lowers the clipper voltages by approx 40mv,this is triggered by clipped activity.

Am i correct to assume this in effect becomes more active with increased hf clipping density,so being less active under bass/midrange (as the composite is pre empasised) ?
Also is the purpose of this to better define bandwidth or amplitude control ?

Reminds me a little of a smart clipper idea ?

Paul.

Just saw your question. Might want to remember how much the high frequencies are boosted due to the preemphasis curve. Just tickle the clipper and look at your mod monitor in Left and Right mode.
