MSNBC: Breaking News! Alito? Terror? Iraq? No!

MSNBC deserves to live in third place after interrupting their news programming yesterday with a breaking news sounder, flashy graphics, and urgent sounding announcer. Did someone shoot Alito? Was the another terror attack? Did more die in Iraq? Nope.

MSNBC, in a "story you'll only see here on MSNBC" obtained E X C L U S I V E photos of the missing cruise ship guy showing, ohmygod, his cabin all a mess, and some clothing gone missing!!! Also, new information that the groom was fighting with the bride before he presumably went overboard.

That's breaking news MSNBC style.

What a complete embarrassment to real journalism. It just never gets any better.

No worse than Nancy Grace and the Cruise Line rep

It could not have been as bad as watching Nancy Grace ask a question to the rep from the Cruise Line and then interrupting him multiple times and arguing with him about his answer (even when he had not finished his sentence). If he had removed his mike and walked off, I would have applauded him.

Nancy, Rita, Greta, Keith, Shep....the whole lot. None of them knows when to quit. Too bad they were allowed to get started in the first place.

The cable news channels are filled with things that are not news. They are a joke.

FOX News isn't any better. They've used that STUPID "FOX NEWS ALERT" WELL PAST the point of OVERKILL. In fact, I'm beginning to wonder if they EVER report news in a routine fashion anymore.

If not, they why not just simply GET RID of that DUMB "ALERT" sounder and just report EVERY story as if it's "Breaking News"?

This is why I still like CNN, though I don't watch them as often as I do MSNBC or FOX. But at least CNN announces "Breaking News" WHEN THERE *IS* BREAKING NEWS to report and NOT whenever there's just some boring, mundane DEVELOPMENT in a given story.

In other words, CNN has been in the business long enough to SHOW RESTRAINT in its reporting (though admittedly one DOES have to wonder about Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer).

Just my opinion :)

Cheers for now :)

Fox has so little worthy of reporting that it has to make a big deal out of every nickle and dime piece of information that comes along with which to fill airtime. You are correct--Fox hypes everything to the point of it being a ridiculous exercise in trying to create news where there is none. And your reaction is probably characteristic of everyone else--"Oh, a Fox News Alert. Well let's see what's on the Cartoon Channel."
