MSNBC Cancels "Maury and Connie"

It was only a matter of time before MSNBC cancelled "Weekends with Maury and Connie"...and they did so today. The last show will be this Saturday.Looks like Connie Chung is finished once and for all.

In regards to Connie Chung, I have no opinion of her, one way or the other. As a journalist, she's neither the best nor the worst. But her *#%@$^@$ husband, and his T R A S H Y daytime talk show, forget it. When is it not about paternity tests, or 14 year old girls who cannot be sure who the father of their child is? Either it is scripted, or he's taking advantage of those in the most terrible of situations. It's totally disgusting. Regardless of whom he is married to, why would MSNBC ever want anything to do with someone like him? I'm glad he'll be off the air! Hopefully his little talk show will have the same demise soon.

Personally I say, no big loss.

Quite obviously,Connie Chung has made history in that she has been on every network and cable channel there is. She has been on NBC,ABC,CBS,FOX News,MSNBC,CNN and no telling others I may have missed, but if that tells you something Connie is not a very trustworthy newswoman judging by the number of networks she has been on.

Finished but not done. Although I would like to volunteer. ::)

"Maury" is a fine example of what NOT to do as a broadcast journalist. His show islowest-common-denomonator material. I didn't theink there was a show that could make "Jerry Springer" look good. I was wrong....LOLGary Begin

Hi everyone:

When was Connie ever on FOX News? I don't EVER recall seeing her on there (Unless this was in the pre-Rick Fulbaum era).

Cheers :)

Pat

By the way....

WHAT THE HECK WAS CONNIE THINKING!!!! ???

It was rather surreal watching the clips aired all over the place this morning from them singing goodbye.

:D  ??? :-X :D  ??? :-X
BWWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

So, her news and musical career is over in 1 fell-on-the-floor swoop??

Definitely one of the THE MOST huh/wtf moments I've ever seen on TV....(well, ok, also way up there in the off-TV list)

???Huh? While she's job-hopped and been fired/canceled/reassigned a few times, that isn't proof enough that she isn't trustworthy. She's definitely not the ratings draw she once was, to be sure, but having several different shows on several different channels doesn't singularly affect her credibility. She surely wouldn't have expected to stay at the very first local TV station that hired her, and the stakes definitely get raised in national media.

Apparently, this isn't new for Ms. Chung to make fun of herself. Peep this article:

Just her way of poking fun at herself. With 'Weekends' getting the boot but allowed a final sendoff, why not have some fun with it, I guess. ::) Having never seen an episode, I take it the show didn't have much of a super-serious hard news focus anyway.

There was a time when Maury Povich was a great journalist. Back in his WTTG/Washington days when he hosted Panarama and the Ten O'Clock news. Even his syndicated talk show was good, at first. But then came the "who is the daddy" "kids gone wild" crap and his show went to pot. I am amazed it lasted this long.

Almost the same with Springer. From what I heard he was very good doing the news at Cincinatti's WLWT and like Maury, at first his syndicated was quite good too, and then came the midgets, strippers, three-somes,....

I doubt neither could re-invent themself even if they wanted to. Too bad they didn't learn from the late Morton Downey Jr. A few years after his his WWOR/Syndicated trash fest ended, Mort did a show on CNBC and a local talk show on Washington's 980AM WRC.
Both were good but people were expecting fights and stuff so as a result neither show lasted.
