MSNBC cancels the 12-4 PM EDT newscasts on Saturdays

Starting this weekend, MSNBC will drop its 12-4 PM EDT newscast on Saturdays in favor of taped programming. There was a rumor circulating that was just a test run but that is apparently not the case. I hear it’s long term.
Source: http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2007/06/29/msnbc-to-drop-saturday-afternoon-newscasts/ I still don't understand why is this channel still on the air. They can't do nothing right to stay competitive with CNN and FNC.

Actually, the 12-4PM Saturday news block only returned a few months ago. They were carrying documentaries from 12 PM forward for a while before that.

msnbc better not go away -- i love most of what they do with the news and personality-type shows. i don't care for all the to catch a predator shows and doc blocks, but i assume others do.

That's not correct. They've aired news in that timeslot since the election period in 2005.

I'll tolerate the repackaged Dateline reports and documentaries. It certainly beats the constant 'news blather' about news events with little to no new information.

Hey Julius....

Next time you direct people to a source of something you post, make sure you refer to a source that doesn't try to EXECUTE SOMETHING on our computers. I say this because I clicked on the URL you posted above and it wanted IE to do something, but all I kept getting was a "server busy" popup dialog box which I couldn't get of without closing the browser.

In other words....USE A TRUSTED SOURCE like Yahoo! News or (Heck) MSNBC's own website. This way we don't get any "surprises".

Cheers :D
