MSNBC Drops Imus!

Making fun of hairstyles is now apparently cause.

You all owe me an apology!
;D

What is important about this story is that Imus went after innocents. He didn't call Condoleeza or Hillary the two H words, he said this about women who did nothing to him and who shouldn't even be in his sphere of thought.
It's not about censorship, it is about stupidity. When Big Business soaks up all the airwaves and censors truly talented people, it is a sweet day when advertisers back away from a bully. Shutting up these "giants" of the industry is hilarious because they think they are all powerful and their very presence "censors" truly talented people who don't often get the same opportunity.

Imus is nothing but a bully. Giants shouldn't step on ants. That's really what it is all about and that
MSNBC didn't have the guts to see that from the get go is a story in itself.

Joe, give MSNBC credit for doing the right thing and not dragging it out. Now that some of his sponsors are leaving him, I wonder how much longer he'll be on the radio?

His radio network had a lame statement, saying they'll continue to "monitor developments" during Imus' vaca--- I mean, during his suspension.

They'll follow the money. If enough sponsors stay on, so will he.

Interesting rumor I'm hearing. People in the broadcasts' home city thinking he might have known exactly what he was doing, looking for an excuse to folllow Stern to sattellite.

Joe's right tho...

If you're going to target someone, said target has to be deserving of ridicule. And that is why he had to go. Had he called a rapist, or criminal, or undesireable "nappy-headed"...there'd be no problem.

Bullies get theirs.

Are you listening Mr. Carr?

what a stupid rumor. his radio syndication audience is already small enough, something like 2 million. he will have 20 listeners if he goes to satellite. plus, he just signed his last long contract with cbs. he ain't going anywhere. cbs will keep him. this whole thing is good for ratings. les moonves needs ratings otherwise julie chen ain't sticking around if he goes broke. the tv thing is different. nbc's ratings are a mess. they'd rather cover their behinds than make a big stink with blue chip advretisers a year before the olympics. last thing they needed was this some senile f-a-r-t making lame chinese jokes for three hours every morning during olympic games.

Please note that:

--acc to Boston Radio Watch, WTKK is standing by Imus, for now, and they have a contract to run
him through 2008. Also CBS/W1 just re-upped their contract with him and they'd be obligated to pay big time...

--Mike Barnicle is filling in for the radio version of Imus (soon to be the only version...) Howie Carr
dug up some dirt on Mike (fairly easy to do) at http://www.howiecarr.com

--While it would make sense to, say, move Eagan & Braude or Michael Graham to mornings and thus
free up space for Westwood One's Dennis Miller, which I'd love (the latter part) that doesn't mean they'd
do it. But here's their chance to take on Finneran with LOCAL talk in morning drive. Personally I'd rather
have someone from sister station WKLB come in and play some classic country. Here's "I'm Gonna
Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home"!

Needless to say, massive sponsor defections could change all this. In fact this is why he's gone
from MessNBC, for the most part...

"One time we were gonna fill up a basketball with C-4"--Kevin Weeks

Howie's no bully; he's just making fun of those who deserve to be made fun of, especially
hacks etc.

Carr says things that are intentionally dumb and sometimes he says things because he just doesn't know.
That's a prescription for trouble. He's a big fish in a little pond that can't break out of his market.

Sooner or later Howie's Karrma will get him (Carr + Karma = Karrma)

Imus is a good start; Howie won't get 1/1000th the press though like WSBG's Gary Smith
