MSNBC Late Nights

An update: It appears that MSNBC has revamped their late night schedule and done away with those "lock-umentaries" that seemed so out of place on their schedule.

I just happened to be flipping by MSNBC at the stroke of midnight, when I caught the end of the replay of "The Rachel Maddow Show" segueing into a replay of "Hardball with Chris Matthews".

Why can't MSNBC just run news overnight? After all wasn't the original plan to provide viewers with a 24 hour cable news operation?

Previously, the lock-umentaries had better ratings than some of the news shows. Apparently, that has changed with the intense interest in politics this year. I, for one, am glad because the west coast gets screwed by the documentaries -- they air in prime-time out here and I never get to see the good news shows.

I believe you can view MSNBC's "opinion" shows (Countdown, Hardball etc.) on their web site the day following the airing.

You can also catch the rebroadcast, which is in Prime Time on the West Coast too.

Cheers :D

It is election season, so I wonder if the move is temporary or not.

Those documentaries have always been way out of place at MSNBC from the start. I wonder if a new investment in news and opinion programming will come.

This is true; sometimes, within hours! I was on their website in the 10 PM hour last night and that night's "Countdown" was already up there.

Although I wonder if these moves are in response to a ratings report that I heard about Maddow's show having great numbers out of the box.

Good move. Seems like everything in the Doc Block has been run over 200 times (or so it seems). Time for a rest...a long rest. Besides, it's about high time David Gregory's show got a nightly reair.

BTW: Don't miss the 2 AM replay of Oddball tonight. The "Live Bear Chase" is a classic.
