MSNBC on Reality Shows

MSNBC is airing a program questioning the value, if any, of reality shows. For all that's seen on MSNBC itself sometimes, the host is asking, "Of what good are reality shows that depict people who are basically self-indulgent louts engaging in meaningless behavior for the benefit of no one but themselves?" A twinkie defender of the reality faith responded, "Oh, well, they are, you know, doing like what they want to do and are successful at it, and it makes them feel good, and people like to watch it." SOME may "like to watch it," she should have said. Certainly not ALL. Considering the source as MSNBC, it's much akin to the proverbial pot calling the kettle black, but the show did make for some interesting moments.

Not sure how Fear factor is doing, but if Treasure Hunters is any indication, perhaps the reality shows should be left with CBS to air.
I wonder how things would be if this were a story on 60 minutes...
