MSNBC's Keith Olbermann better prepare for more viewers

Keith Olbermann's new book "The Worst Person In The World and 202 Likely Contenders" jumped from #1800 to #10 on Amazon.com's best-seller list in just three days after Keith blasted the Bush administration on "Countdown" after Donald Rumsfield blasted the media last week.

At least a half-dozen versions have been uploaded to YouTube. Estimated combined views over 25,000.

I am praying this means more viewers for Keith. Anything to get Mr. Fallafel (O'Reilly) off the air for good (I wonder if he is #1 in Keith's book).

I am a very avid fan of Keith, and I hope he stays around for a long time. May God bless him.

I don't get Mr. Olbermann's show at all. The critics all seem to love him, but he just seems like a bigger blowhard than Bill O'reilly - and that's REALLY hard to do. As I see it, he seems obsessed with the fact his show loses to Mr. O'reilly and is trying to take the guy down a notch. Amazingly, O'reilly responds to this crap.

Meanwhile, I've pretty much quit watching either show. I don't need all that anger at night anyway.

Granted, there is some give and take between O'Reilly and Olberman over issues, ratings, and whatever. O'Reilly seems to take himself much too seriously, instead of just doing his bit and letting viewers think and react as they will, despite the "we report, you decide" framework within which Fox couches its programs. (We report now you believe it.) Olberman has appeared on a couple of shows where he himself was interviewed, and he, at least then, as much as said it's all a schtick, a gonzo take on whatever is going on in the world, programming that he admitted is designed to be different and not intended in any way to alter the rotation of the earth. Regardless of their intent, the shows will have an identified following for any number of reasons--not the strongest of which exist within who is adjudged as doing the "better" job of doing whatever it is they do.

So now he'll have 20 viewers instead of 10? ;D

Actally his show is the fastest growing thing on MSNBC and has beat Paula Zahn on CNN. If you look at the money demo, which is what advertisers care about, MSNBC is sitting in a better spot than Fox News which can rely on ads for motorized wheelchairs and life insurance for their extremely old skewing audience. Remember CBS used to rake in viewers for shows like Murder, She Wrote, which got cancelled because advertisers could care less about their audience. Fox News ratings are on the decline (maybe viewer die-off, who knows) anyway, and with MSNBC there is nowhere else to go but up.

Olbermann thinks O'Reilly is a blowhard moron, but most of the "give and take" is just publicity stunting to attract more attention and viewers. The fortunate thing is that O'Reilly can't help himself but to respond each and every time, which delights Olbermann to no end. It also has Stewart and Colbert having a ball, except they also like to poke Geraldo, who also responds.

I wish Keith Olberman decided to stick with Sports. I liked him better. I don't agree with him at all. I am not surprised he beat Paula Zahn. I think a paint drying on a wall is more interesting than her show. I have never seen her talk about anything that really matters. Just a bunch of tabloid stories.

A nea thing with Olberman is that it seems that he hates Neal Boortz even more than he hates the president. Which means Neal Boortz gets tons of publicity on his show. ;)

Dampier nailed it on the give and take, barbs flying everywhere. Olberman and O'Reilly do each other a favor by exchanging insults. The audience loves a good (ersatz) squabble. One hand washes the other.
